after having a drive of the M3 on Sat afternoon - we have decided for the time being to stay with the :

335d - nice car for me and 'er

Merc Viano - for runnin about, wheelchair duties, gig duties etc............

then maybe at Xmas - the Mrs(boss) will buy an M3 as well as the 335d and we can use that for her oing to work(1mile away) and Sunday blast tool..........

Incidentally - we went to the Lakes toadey in the 335d - filled up as we left - did 155 miles and it was showing JUST under 3/4 full on the diesel gauge .............. and as others have said........... in an M3, you can waste a FULL tank in 160-180 miles

so.............. for our 15k trade in - i could have TWO 335d's - or a 10 plate 335d for the price of a 3 year old M3.............. AND get MILES better running costs!

Sounds normal to me Ben....................

I LOVE my 335d becos of its easy driving low down nature - you don't have to keep changin down all the time........... where the M3 i think you would!

just put your foot down and it just PULLS.............. and the excellent auto box takes care of the rest!!!

Mine is DMS remapped to 340hp - and more Torque than ANY other BM - i'm happy stayin with the oil burner

The trip to the lakes today left me satisfied and NOT thinkin i wish there was more **** or more **** etc..........

Same for me in mine briers. There isnt the huge kick at 2k rpm like you get in other diesels. Just a surge of power that progressively increases until about 3k rpm where it seems to take it up another notch.
If it wasnt a twin turbo I would definately be getting it looked at

I guarantee once you flip it into sport mode and take it out on the back roads with the window down you will feel mega enjoyment.

I even felt it following one on back roads hearing the thing change down.

It's a special car and you made a v.good decision; everyone wants an M.

the itch will be sratched soon................

My Mrs is a Petrolhead - had big bikes before too(both of us) - and she came back from test ride with a big grin - so i knew it was sold then.............

and its not like we can't change our mind and sell it and buy a newer 335d if we want to..............

i just thought - BOLLOX to it! - you only live once - go for it!

its done 30k, has the 1k service done, its the blue metallic with black leather and full iDrive, Bluetooth etc..............

we have a Merc Viano - for wheelchair duties, gig duties, daily runaround............ so even if its not very economical its not like we'll be doing 30,000 miles a year............... more like 6,000 or so.........!

Will post some pics when i get round to it

this is the car :

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...73jw?logcode=p

it was only 7 miles from our house - there were others on auto trader but were 150+ miles away..................

and they gave a generous £15k trade in - paid £19,995 for our 335d from a dealer in Jan 2010.............. so had it 16 months and i think thats pretty OK

We buy any car offered £11,600 and a Supermarket type place offered £13,500

Congrats wait till you put in M mode and thread some corners together, it's sublime

fyi:

Pro sat nav, idrive and leather are standard on the E92 M3 as is the carbon roof.

The car should have also had another oil service, vehicle check and brake fluid change. Make sure the lsd and g/box oil were also changed at the 1,200 mile running in service

Our search was limited somewhat by the fact that Sue said she didn't want a car with garish coloured leather.......!!!

What oil should it have in it???

There are still loads of options, personal choice as to whether they are worthwhile though

MDCT
EDC
Upgraded speakers
19" wheels
Heated seats
Front parking sensors (rear are standard)

are a few

Exhaust is too quiet.

That would be my only mod on the new M3.

Congratulations. Thats a lovely colour combination on your new M3. I been tempted to go for a convertible for the summer, but it's the £460 per year road tax that puts me off!!

yeah........... looking thru Auto trader - loads of silver and black ones

the blue metallic looks really nice...........

er indoors did want a convertible - but not many about - and ones that were, were about £40k........... and you'd miss out on that really cool carbon roof!!!

Our son Nik is disabled - so we get free tax on one vehicle - so we'll put it on the M3 and pay tax on the Viano at £240 pr year

TikoV - gotta keep the namby pamby PC brigade happy haven't we?

Hi Max,

Tough decision..... IMO if you can afford it and want to give it a go, then go for it.

Even if you don't get on with it long term, you'll have scratched that itch and be happier (if poorer) for it!

How can that put you off? Old 335i's are that much tax, even new 335i's are £240, so an extra £220 a year for an M3 is the absolute least consideration IMO.

With the extra fuel, tyres, servicing, insurance etc that £240 is like a fart in a hot air balloon.

65p a day - A packet of crisps maybe? I'd take an M3 instead of Cheese & Onion.
