I recieved an invitation in the mail from Maserati North America (no clue how I got on that mailing list) to come in by October 31st and test drive a new vehicle; and I get a $100 gift card to Smith & Wollensky restaurants. Set up an appointment for Monday at noon - gives me a great excuse to get out of the office for a bit.

Hmm... gift card for dinner AND the chance to drive a Maserati. Sign me up :rocks:

exactly, the test drive must be done BY Tuesday the 31st.
Figured I'd go today so I don't have to walk in dressed in my Halloween costume. One of the girls from the office and I are going as Mr. & Mrs. Smith -- somehow I don't think I should walk in sporting a flak-jacket and guns.

Alright, well I'm off to the dealership.

Went and drove the car...

Ended up taking out the Quattroporte rather then the Coupe.

Such an amazing machine.
4.2 liter V8 with a 7,600rpm redline and 395hp. Hit 60 in 2nd, and the sales associate said you can hit 98mph at the top of 3rd gear. One of the girls back at work said I'm still grinning from ear to ear.

The car drove a lot smaller then it actually is... by no means is it a small car; it just handles a lot better then it would appear to. Getting back in my E90 felt like hopping in a sporty little go-kart, and made for some spirited driving on the way back to work.

The sales associate was extremely nice, and when I explained that as much as I'd love to; there's no way I can afford this car -- at least not at this time. He handed me his card and some brochures and said "not a problem. In 2 years, 5 years, whenever you're ready to buy this car; let me know."

Oh... and another thing he mentioned - an oil change will set you back $400.

My friends father had a Quattroporte. He had more problems with it. He dumped it in under a year.
