335i First forced induction engine in US?

I made a bet with someone, because i thought i was pretty sure on this...

I believed that the new 335i engines are the ONLY forced induction engines in production in the US. However, some research has shown me that there were some BMW vehicles in the US market in the 1970's where BMW has produced FI engines.

Am i wrong that the 335i is the FIRST forced induction (regardless of the fact that it's single or twin-turbo) in production in the US domestic market?

yes, you're wrong. There was the 528td, and the turbo 2002's. (tii, I think?)

528td? I think it was 524td. Also, a 2002 Turbo and a 2002tii are 2 different cars. The Turbo was never officially sold in North America.

I don't think BMW NA ever sold a turbocharged gasoline car, but quite a few E23 745i (turbo I6) were privately imported.
