When its nice out, i just start and go. But when its freezing and my car isn't garaged over night, hell yea I let her sit for 5 mins. I am not a fan of getting in a freezing car at 6 AM. And this is coming from a Boston boy living in Atlanta, well for now.

So just a few technical notes here. First, the N52 and N52 have an oil lubrication system that includes a constant-pressure oil pump, so the oil pressure does not vary over the RPM range like traditional engines. Second, both the N52 and N54 have an electric water pump that is computer controlled and allows for very fast warm up of the engine (intentional so to keep cold-start emissions to a minimum). Third, multi-viscosity oils such as 5W-30 flow at -35F and can provide lubrication to the bearings and other internal engine parts at very low temperatures.

The reason the engine should not be run at high RPM when cold is to prevent damage to various internal components that are designed to provide maximum power at operating temperature, which means when all the bearing tolerances are within the proper limits after the metals have reached the proper expansion points.

Same here! Soon as the rpms drop a bit I drive away. I figure it gives the oil a chance to flow to all parts of the engine. (Probably more psychological)

Sure that wasnt Blue Man Group warming up? I dunno, I kinda like it. Again if you dont know what to expect it would be concerning. I think ive figure out what I want next too!

Didn't really say that I don't like the way it sounds, it's just that everyone else know exactly when its started, no sneaking out with the M5.

I just prefer to let this car worm-up a bit, it's not like fuel economy should even be a consideration with a V10!
