Can new tires (non rft) trigger TPMS?

I need some info on why my TPMS sensor is indicating low pressure after removing 4 runflats and going with 4 new Mich Pilot Sport A/S on my 08 335XI.
189 rims, with staggered setup.

I left the tire shop and had the red tire low message.
I got home and did a reset. Turned off car , turned back on and I have a yellow symbol for TPMS.

In all of my reading in going from RFT to NON-RFT, I did see anything that indicated my TPMS would not work.

Do I try to reset using my BavTech tool?

I want to call the shop back as they did not do their due diligence and reset the sensors is my guess, and me resetting them through the turn signal lever only shut off the low tire warning.

Have you tested the pressures yourself, to see what's going on? Don't rely solely on the TPMS.

Pressure checks out clean:

Front 32
Rear 35

I did the reset again, powered off and then on again and still get the yellow TPMS symbol. I warned the shop to be careful. Hope they didn't whack one of my new TMPS sensors.

I recently got 189 rims and got non runflats. When you reset your TPMS, it will take a good 6-7 mins for the TPMS to reset (at least that's what happened in my case).

thx for info so far. I just ran a full diagnostic with my BavTech. It comes up clean. Perhaps the pressure of 32/35 is too low for these tires.

I'm going to check on Michelin site for recommended pressure. The NTB dealer went off what was on my door tag, but my original tires on my 335xi were different than the bridgestone RE050a's I was running on 189 rims.

I'll keep looking. Just hate to have to take it to the dealer now if I cannot resolve myself.

TPMS could be broken inside or installed wrong, that happened to me (plus they have a screw on them that was backing itself off)

Inflate the tires to about 35/38 and see what happens.

I set my pressure to 36 psi for all 4 tires and will try the reset again when driving. NTB did not take apart or remove the sensors so they should be functional. Odd thing is when I press the stalk to do the Rese t it does not return with a Reset and a checkmark. See the choice for Resetting. Odd.

Reset the TPMS standing still. Then you drive around for the system to calibrate itself. No need to rise the pressure, the sensor measures the pressure which is independent of the tire, so 32/35 should work.

restting the tpms will establish a new baseline...so adding more air really is not necessarry. reset and drive, it should go away after a few seconds. now if you get it again after that then you have an issue. also take note on the colors of the tpms indicators. if one is yellow and the bigger display is red then you have a low psi, if it's both yellow then you have a broken tpms.

sounds like a broken or damaged sensor.

Air pressure it air pressure regardless of tire construction. The issue is in the system. Likely a wrongly installed sensor, failure to reset the system or that the pressure in the tire is simply too low.

the system wont reset unless you drive around after selecting reset from the computer. the sensors go to sleep after a few minutes stationary to conserve battery, so they wont be transmitting.

Thank you everyone for the input. Got it resolved.
Reset it running and drove off. Yellow light finallly went away.
Enjoying the new non-runflats now.

Glad it worked out. Let us know how you like the conventional tires versus the RFT's once you get some miles to compare.
