320d ed options and half leather question.

Hi Guys

I'm about to order a 320d ed in white as a company car and just have a few questions/thoughts in regards to options (I have £1200 left for upgrades)

1. Half Leather Seats £425 - Does this include leather on the door panels? When I do the BMW configuration it appears that way but I'm not certain and can't find any info online.

Options I'm considering but if I select the seats I only have £775 left.

Headlining Anthracite - £200
Sun Protection Glass £220
Chrome Line Extension £180
Black High Gloss - £75
Rain & Headlight Sensor - £95

Would like
Elec Folding Mirrors £175
Cruise Control - £180
Extended Storage £90

I'm happy to pay my own money to add things once I have the car so I could do that with extended storage but is there anything else you would recommend?

Thanks

Darren

Hi Darren,

Good choice of car, pretty amazing economy and performance.

Pretty good list of options you got there.

The only thing I might consider adding is the BMW Buiness Loudspeaker System (£390) granted not as good as the HK or Logic 7 or aftermarket; but when I had a courtesy E90 with standard speakers I missed the ones I had.

I wish I had the electric folding mirrors as if one of those gets smashed by a dodgy driver or gets clipped in a car park then its hundreds to get it fixed. Them to me pay for themselves as its so time consuming and annoying to fold them in and out manually.

If you're a matoroway driver then cruise control is a must too. I second the sports seats as the normal ones are quite unsupportive by comparison. Any form of spirited driving and the normal seats are so flat they don't hold you in. Sports all the way, alcantara or leather.

Interesting question,

My £1200 would go on:

Alpine White £0
Black cloth £0

OR

Jet Black £0
Saddle Brown Leather £1240 (yes I know, not really in budget....)

Plus £1200 of toys

(running total)
Bluetooth £535
USB Audio £220 (£755)
(these days these are pretty important basics IMO)
Sport Steering Wheel £110 (£865)
(you hold this all the time, the standard SE one is pretty lame IMO in comparison to the sport one - I would never buy a new BMW without one, costs a fortune to fit later due to different airbag)
Rain Sensor £95 (£960)
(you do miss this when you don't have it)
Seat Heating £295 (£1255)
(never used to rate them, now can't do without them)
Black Gloss Trim £75 (£1330)
(a great interior option for the price)

Cruise would be nice too but £190 extra

I have electric folding mirrors - on your budget I wouldn't bother, better things to spend cash on.

Thanks gentlemen, I didn't expect so many replies so soon!

After revisiting it I'm now thinking:

Sports Seats: £430
Half Leather: £420
Black High Gloss: £75
Sun Protection Glass: £200
Auto Lights/Wipers: £95

This is actually £20 over budget but I'm hoping it will sneak through, I wish I could use my own money for additional items but the company won't allow it.

I've noticed some new models Exclusive and Sport Plus launched 2nd July, you get 3k's worth of extras for £600. I might hang fire for a week on the off chance these appear on the new company car list!

Cheers

Darren

I am well placed to answer your question about the door cards as i just took delivery of an alpine white 320d ed with half leather sports seats last week! The door cards are the same cloth as the non-leather parts of the seats, quite a nice fabric if you ask me!

I would try get the sport steering wheel as well, its much better than the standard, if you drop the black high gloss (you can always retrofit later) and get the sports steering you will be over budget slightly more but with a nicer all round package.

Thanks BBdivo

I've actually found a photo of the seats/door trim, definitely a step up from the standard cloth IMO.

They look like the half-leather/sports seats that bbdivo mentioned about in his car.

Just an update after going to the dealership the sports steering wheel is a must IMO so thanks for the recommendations on this, likewise the sports seats!

Actually just a thought, when I submit my order through the lease company I state the option price ex VAT - do you know if the prices listed are including VAT? It doesn't state on the BMW price list either way and if it does it would enable me to squeeze something else in.

Cheers

BBdivo - Do you have a photo of the rear seats? I'd be interested to see how these look in the back. Finally, is there a rear armrest?

Cheers

Maybe too late for you but the list prices definately include VAT, I have to take half the VAT off to work out how much I end up having to paying our lease company!
