How many gallons of E85 do you guys mix?
I was just wondering what the average is for E85 mixing.
I've been putting in 4 gallons per tank (25%). I've heard of people putting in half a tank. Every once in a while I'll get a cold start extended crank... just a few pumps more than usual so I've been holding off on mixing any larger percentage in. Anyone else? I've got a Procede, but JB guys with the wires or whatever chime in too! |

Not looking for a recommended percentage. Looking for real world amounts in gallons that people have used regularly and any issues/non issues.
Half tank = 8 gallons, 40% = 6.4 gallons. Is anyone logging their fuel trims? Where are you at with a half tank of E85? What boost level? |

So i put 6 gallons in yesterday and so far so good. The sound at idle is a tiny bit different. I really like how raw the engine sounds with E85 vs. regular gas. I brought my laptop with me to work. Hopefully on the way home tonight I can do some logging to see where my fuel trims are at and turn the boost up. I checked last night and on map 2 it's giving me 14psi or so.

I'm a procede user - Map 1 is "stage 1", Map 2 is "aggressive" and Map 3 is "meth"

I just starting using (lol) and I put in 6.5 gal and topped off with 93. Figure that's about 40%, with Jb4 Iso map 5, Dci and secondary kittyless no codes and car is really responsive, wow I can see how E can become addictive.

when i used to run e85, i would put three gallons in with the rest 93 octane.
yes, the performance was there and it was a nice added gain, but my car did not run as strong and consistent as it did when i did not run e85. i was having some rough cold starts (which is common) along with rough idle and overall performance being sporadic. from my research, it puts a very large strain on the stock fuel pump. i have stopped using it until i am able to see the long term effects of it on our bimmers and their components. |

I would not use E85. The gas mileage is horrible and they don't give you a discount on the gas. Plus ethanol is corrosive. Drive past a gas terminal. The tanks with the dirty black top are the tanks with ethanol. Ethanol has to be transported via railcar or barge. It cannot be transported via pipeline because it is so corrosive. Just imagine what it could do to your engine in higher concentrations.

I tried 6 gallons and all okay so far. Still feels inconsistent above 5000. I think I'm gonna be forced to do meth. It feels like timing drops out. Probably from high IAT. I wish Vishnu or Cobb would do an IAT voltage/amp clamp for us E85 users. I'd really like to see what my car could do at full timing (without having to spray meth)

i run 5 gallons at a time! (station is 25 miles away) so i fill up 5 gallon jugs! Car does hiccup sometimes, but pulls hard and much better timing/boost on map 5 (JB4 stage 2)
