True but some guy did it with stock manifolds and I saw pretty good gains, I wouldn't spend over $1000 for something that doesn't give too much power. Gotta balance the money-to-gains ratio lol

Should I replace the current glasspack with the stock resonator?

Would the stock resonator work better than the current glasspack for more backpressure?

Backpressure is bad and I do have my terms wrong. When you're pipes are too small, there's too much backpressure and you lose power. When they're too large, you lose VELOCITY, which if you don't have enough of you lose power. Having a 3inch pipe is probably too large for our NA engines. Sure for high end its great but wtf about low end? You're torqueless for days low end and you're not going anywhere in a high gear at 2000rpm. If you had a drag car, sure go for it but this is my daily. I need a compromise. Having JUST enough backpressure helps pick up low end. Adding these things doesn't necessarily help make your tq or hp peak higher or lower but it shifts the peak around. In my case I don't want my torque too high which sacrifices my low end. |

Anyways I already decided, I got a Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator. I may replace the current glasspack I have with it or just add it somewhere along the piping.

So you admit you don't know what you're talking about? I'm ok with that. I think you're making a stupid move, and if you're happy with it, so am I. But you do know sections of the stock exhaust are 3 inches in diameter, right? And that all N series race cars use a single 3 inch exhaust as well. But you're right, We are ALL clueless. Have fun with adding back pressure on the small exhaust of yours. |

You say a race car...okay am I a race car? I need a compromise for like the 3rd time I've said. I'm not going to be in a higher rev range while I'm driving like a race car, I need some power in the lower section of my power band. I'm not sure about you...you seem like a dimwit kinda guy so that's what you probably do Last edited by Amini77; 08-28-2014 at 02:31 PM.. |

You're right, that's why I didn't go with 3". I went with 2.5" which is still an upgrade from stock, I'll still make power, but I didn't take too big of a risk going larger and I'm completely okay with that. I sure will, today I'm putting a resonator on, I think its still wayyyy too raspy for my taste.

Because the area of the pipes is JUST under the surface area of a 3" pipe, with the exclusion of the section after the merge (resonator) is 3"
But tell me more about how you don't know how to measure, or the dynos YOU have found showing a loss of power with a single exhaust. |
