Scam or not

I found an 06 Mini Cooper s on cl a few days ago so I contacted the seller.. The seller emails me back and writes a real personal story behind the history of the car an why she wants to sell ASAP. I asked her to send of the interior etc.etc an she did. So I told her I would like to see the car in person, but I realized the car had Cali plates on them.. So i asked where the car was located. She said Cali and if we go through ebay motors I can have the car shipped to my house in 7 days. From there I would have 5 days to inspect it and verify it. If. Don't want it, I can call the delivery company up and they will pick it up from my house? Is this a scam? Has anyone gone through this? When it seems that things are too good to be true they really aren't.. Opinions and advice would be nice..thanks

Scam 100%, but if you're really set on finding out just tell them you have family in cali or whatever location the car is and they can check the car out for you. that will remove all doubt if you're not convinced.

SCAM!

Scam for sure. Its never a good sign when they want to "ship you the car from (insert far away land)" Had a guy try this on me when I was buying my first car in high school but he stops responding to me when I started asking enough questions about the situation. Btw its not a girl is probably some dude.

It's a scam. But eBay does have a protection policy in place for stuff like this. So if the deal is done through eBay and the car isn't delivered (or title issues), they'll cover you. Certain qualifications have to be met, but if you look at an ad on eBay, it will tell you if the car qualifies or not.

Id have to say that thats most likely bs because ever scam if ever found on craigslist, they say they want to go trough ebay. So the scammers must know a loophole in the ebay protection policy.

Scam, almost got caught up in it. I was about to purchase a 2006 jeep wrangler for 3k. She was selling this car because she was a Sargent in the army and was going to spain. She wanted to go through ebay motors and send the money through western union. It is total scam, and there is an ebay page that tells you to not deal with the craigslist deals that deal with western union. good luck in search but stay away.

Loophole probably is that not every vehicle qualifies. So it makes it sound more legit that they go through eBay, but if the vehicle doesn't qualify for any protection, buyer may not pay attention. That and a lot of people claim they'll use eBay Motors "escrow" which doesn't exist. It's probably why ebay created the new protection policy.

I've sold cars in the past and had people want to use eBay's shipping service which doesn't exist. Or their escrow service which doesn't exist. They think that if they drop the name eBay, it makes it more legit.

Anytime I get a detailed sob story from a buyer or seller, I immediately think scam.

If you want to get a vehicle report without traveling to see it and to confirm that it is real you can contact vehicle inspectors to go check it out. The cost is only around $100. If she refuses this for whatever reason stop all communication immediately.

Sounds like a scam.

You can always reach out on mini forums and see if there is anyone close by that can checkout the car for you. I have a 06 MCS and you will be surprised with the Mini support community.
