My 335d M-Sport Touring
Well,
After an unfortunate spell with a 2.0 TDI Quattro (177BHP) Audi (almost the same as TripleD), where the fuel consumption just wasn't cutting it, I was left with a decision. Keep the car, be pissed off with the fuel consumption figures, and just get on with it. Or..... Send it back to Audi before I loose too much money on it, and go for something not necessarily better on the fuel, but faster for the same consumption. So thats what I did. I think I will, on average, get around the same figures (mid - high 30's) as I was in the A4, BUT, with 107 BHP more, should be a little more fun. Had a few test drives of 330d's and a couple in 335d's, but the only one that even got close to ticking most of the boxes was this 335d. To be honest, if ALL the sub 10k 330d's hadn't been so far into Englandshire, I probably would have went for one of those first, as I could get a much newer one for the money. BUT, I don't regret my decision. Yet at least. So I picked it up today, and I love it already. Needs a few bits and pieces here and there, and a remap, but its all good for just now. So here is a quick picture of the A4 that left: Fair to say, it was a pretty machine. Here is its replacement: Needs a good polishing admittedly. But that'll get started tomorrow. Comments and advice welcome. |

Nice car mate, I was looking for a 335d or a 330d tourer, but to find one with the spec I wanted to damn near impossible unless I wanted to spend serious money.
Enjoy it - let us know how it compares to the Audi.

Well, I have to say, I think the A4 looks much better if I'm honest (my Brother just bought one but with different alloys) however the engines & ride aren't quite up to BMW's standards which is obviously more important.
It'll be a rocket-ship once remapped.

Dont get me wrong i love the E91, but that Audi wins hands down with the looks!
But like you say, its a peach of an engine, and for the same MPG with 100bhp more, whats not to like!! |

I am not sure if it was you, I have seen a similar username on Audisrs with an s4 4.2. If not, ignore me.... That must be someone else. As I used to had an s4 and on that forum. |

Well put.
Yes Tak1986, I did used to have a 4.2 V8 S4. Sold it a couple months ago, and was looking for an early e90/e91 330d as a replacement, and keep the A4. But the fuel economy got the better of me with the A4. To me, the A4 is a far superior looking machine. I do LOVE the look of the car. And the Quattro made sense for where I live / work. But the terrible fuel consumption I couldn't live with. The BMW on the other hand, looks bland both inside and out (to me), but that engine. Almost as quick as my S4, and the same economy as my A4. Well, that won me over. This time. |

Thinking I need to change the wheels to be honest. Don't really like the MV3's very much. Apart from that and the obligatory map though, its staying as is.

Exactly this, I couldn't find a 335d in the condition I wanted with the spec I wanted for love nor money let alone a touring one. Very nice indeed, enjoy.

Love Carlos' comments
Nice E91. A bit plain in silver perhaps. I think comparing black to black would have been fairer ! But that's just me. Congrats on owning a "proper" car though

Ha ha ha.
Yeah, I ideally wanted a black one. But couldn't find one in budget. Found a couple 330d's in budget, in Black, but they were hundreds of miles away. This one just happened to come into my local dealer just as I went in for a look. Lucky. p1ste, no, the Audi wasn't cutting it for consumption. Was averaging mid-high 30's. Much the same as the 335d to be honest. However, I didn't buy a 2.0 TDI to get marginally better consumption than a 2.0T. Thats why you buy 3.0 TDI's with 2 turbos. Well, looking at MV4's just now. Dunno for sure yet what way I'm going, but have narrowed it down to either the MV4's (19") or 3SDM 0.01's in 18" guise. Should know this weekend what way I'm swaying. I love the look of 19's, but the ride quality and cheaper tyre prices sway me towards 18's if I'm honest. In other news, Bluefin map is now installed. Meant to take her to almost 340 BHP, but we'll see. Asked superchips scotland (FPC?) about rolling road but they said the automatic box and 155 mph limiter meant it would be very difficult to get a proper indication. Might wait on a rolling road day to find out. Only driven her once since map was installed, and the little one was in the car, so didn't boot it. First external mod done today. Black kidney grills. Much better: Before: After: |
