How dark for tint?

I'm planning on getting my 08 328 xi tinted. Car is silver, how dark should I go so I don't get pulled over all the time? 15 or 30%?? Opinions?

Since you have a black interior whatever percentage you pick it will look darker compared to having a light interior. To be safe go with 30% but I have 15% with black interior and it looks dark but I like it. It does get annoying in the winter when the days are shorter and it is dark outside but great in the summer.

I think 30% to 35% on a BMW is the best no matter what color the interior is. It looks very classy on a BMW. >20% makes it look really ghetto and distasteful in my opinion.

50% front 30% rear, I live in CA so I don't want the fronts too dark, otherwise I'd attract the cops. I've had 2 tickets in the first week of tint when I had 20% all around.

I went with 5% and I'm glad I did. Really helps keep the car cooler in the summer.

I have a silver 328i sedan with black interior; I got 30% ceramic and it looks absolutely PERFECT IMO and I have gotten so many compliments. It changed the look of my car entirely. Going darker makes the car look cheap I think and more suspicious to police as well. There is a big difference between 20% and 30%, 20% looks almost like the windows were painted black in certain lighting situations.

35% all the way around or even 20% in the rear window. Black interior makes it look dark when not sunny out.

I dislike tint that is too dark as well. It'll make cops hesitant when approaching your car if you get pulled over.

Agreed. I've been tossing the idea around to even get tinted due to the aforementioned. Something to consider.

I live in SoCal. Mine is Silver and black inside. According to Mr Tint, in CA back tint has no restrictions but front. He installed 30% ceramic in the back and 15% front on mine. Installer guaranteed 15% max in front is legal.

Any time I get pulled over I turn off the car, turn on the interior lights, and roll down the windows. If you make it easier on them, they are going to be less apprehensive and may take it easier on you.

Not really, I did that on my birthday a couple years ago and the cop didn't give a damn.

Can't win them all. Cops are people, too, and some people are dicks.

Depends on your state laws. If you dont want to get pulled over then most state laws are 30-35%.

If you want it to hide your face go 20% or more. Typically "factory" tint on SUV's are about 20%.

I actually buy tint so I can look around and people can't see in, not necessarily for a look. Everyone is different though.
