My Water/Meth Adventures :D (Dyno and Video included now :) )

EDIT:

I just got tuned by active, they ramped up the boost big because of the cooling effects of the water and octane boost of the meth. Here is the dyno sheets (+40wtq and +25 whp) and the video is right below them, Enjoy!

Yes! I know its sounds like a drug lol. And yes, I'm meth addicted now! LOL For those of you that do not know, water/meth is a mix of water and methanol, an alcohol, which combined lowers the temperature of the combustion but ALSO methanol is 116 Octane and it, mixed with 93 pump gas combines to be around 100-105 octane

So now that we have the laymens explanation out of the way, the very talented minds and hands at Active Autowerke figured out a way to make it almost a complete stealth integration. Only the 2.5 gallon optional tank shows in the trunk. Snow Performance makes the entire kit and It costs a mere $500, Shipped.

If anyone has any questions or comments please, feel free to respond

Without further adue, please enjoy the pictures !

P.S. I met Char at the BP on US.1 around the Citibank. He'll tell you how all the mods I have together sound

P.P.S. I go back on Tuesday to Active to get a Custom Retune for all my mods, including the Meth! On their Mustang Dyno of course. I'll post those results and a Dynojet I go to after getting re-tuned

Ok a few questions; 1. Where did you tap for the 12v power? 2. Is that the VC-25/MAF control module that I see there (kinda blurry)? If so why? I thought we don't have a MAF sensor? I'm very curious as I too have the stage 2 boost cooler kit (not the MAF version though) ready to install. Lastly, do you have safe injection and the solenoid to prevent the meth for siphoning to the engine under vacuum? Thank you very much for the pictures.

Nice one. Did you do a power run with & without the meth? AFR change? Boost? Measure IAT change?

okay from the top:
1) 12v power is taped direct to the rear battery, on the right.
2) It is the VC-25/MAF controller, and yes you're right, we have no MAF, we have TMAP, however, the left most knob has the options: MAF or Boost
3) This is the Stage 2 Boost Cooler Kit, and yes its the same as the MAF one they offer however the knob is on one side or the other depending on the kit you buy
4) I do not have the safe injection, I was considering it but it didnt seem worth it after Active said they'd custom tune for me.
5) I have the solonoid upgrade but Active chose not to use it saying it was un-needed unless the tank is lower than the nozzle going before the throttle body (which in my case is not)
6) You're welcome

i've been waiting for a meth kit to come out specifically for our cars. now the only issue is tuning it i guess? i dont want to put it in if its going to cause a bunch of funky issues with the v3. since i live in hawaii, a custom tune from shiv is not possible :-(...but anyways, great job active! very very very nice to see this done!!!

Balls of steel man! Nice. Can't wait for the results.
One question:
I'm not sure if I know exactly what "safe injection" is but will you have a failsafe in the map to go back to stock timing if the meth flow is interrupted? You make power with water/meth by advancing the timing. If you run out fluid or a line gets kinked or the pump fails and your still running the advanced timing you can very easily damage the engine.

I've seen the failsafe question come up more than once and I always wondered: if the car has an automatic knock control to adjust timing to stay clear of knock, why would you be worried about aggressive timing and meth failing?

The only thing I can think of is that the meth tune is more than just timing advance (like significantly leaner A/F ratio commanded while under meth inj) and maybe that is too risky?

The last question I had was this though: if meth/H20 injection lowers intake temps so much, that by itself should be picked up by the ECU and you really wouldn't need to manually adjust timing via spec tune. i.e. A 50'F+ drop should net you quite a bit of timing automatically via ECU. No meth, no problem, ECU handles it all. A/F ratio is a different story though. I'd like to know what spec tunes are doing- timing only or significant A/F ratio changes.

Awesome pics and setup. Thanks so much for sharing!

That's a clean install... it looks like the guys at active did a good job.

I'm curious as to how you ran the line from the tank in the trunk up to the engine bay... did you go through the cabin or underneath the car?

well from a butt dyno so far maybe 5-10 wheel untuned. with a tune? 3x more probably.

im guessing a max of 30 at the wheel. but snow also offers nitro methane :P which just has a lot more oxygen :P snow says increases of 30-50 hp

water meth will only help, even without a tune, as explained in the op. i am pretty sure (85% ish) that v3 will love it :P and thanks for the gratz

you seem to know a lot more than me about tuning and our ecu and yes after about a day i felt a good increase, i'd say 5-10 across the board whp, so maybe ur right. ill ask what active does

375ml/min (300-450 rwhp nozzle) and basically, what I was really impressed by, is the nozzle instantly atomizes the mix, you want it as close to the throttle body as possible for max power

about 500 taxed and shipped for stage 2 (what i have), which progressivly injects, starts at about 4psi and is at full pump pressure by 8

hell yea they did, i was really impressed.

actually, out the bottom of the trunk and under all the heat shields, under the shrouding at the front, and up
