Question is, who won the toll Grand Prix?

That road is a nightmare for speed cameras.

If you go that way, always stick the speed limit would be my advice.

I was given this advice so luckily when there have been police in the lay by's are cameras..I have been doing the speed limit.

How long has that been bad for speed cameras? I know the police have a lot of both marked and unmarked cara on there, but I didn't realise there were cameras too?

It's been a long time since using the M6 toll, but like you Si,I didn't know about any cameras

It's a turkey shoot for Bib on there though, some treat it like a private race track and wonder why they get done for speeding!

My last 3 pts were gained on the M6 toll

I must admit, whenever I've driven it the conditions and visibility have suggested a 3 figure speed is more than safe.

I have been up it (as a passenger) at serious speed before - if there were cameras on that stretch the driver would have been jailed I think.

Apologies didnt make it clear, I meant police cars with cameras. Many a time I have seen them either in the lay by's or on the top of bridges with police cars up ahead to pull people in.

If you put your foot down anywhere, I recommend looking ahead at bridges.

I think you would need to be going REALLY fast to get pulled on the M6 toll though. 90-100mph is normal even for average motorists.

I'm hesitant to boot it from the toll gates as you aren't back in NSL for about 300 metres after the gates.

The M6 toll and the M40 have to be the best motorways in the country. The average speed must be 90+.

I wish all motor ways were like this. Please take my £5.80!

Ha Ha, I have a TAG so I don't even stop, if you're brave you can do 40 into the TAG lane and the barrier opens as you enter the lane, but best cover the brake in case it doesn't open!

After that its 95 all the way, never seen a copper in years on that road. Touch wood, watch the bridges though.

Alledgedly 160+ often on a ZX7 I may or may not have owned in a past life, alledgedly.

I used to use the toll a lot especially late on a Sunday night, it's a rumour that the car I had at the time (e46 320d msport coupe) went full out on the m6 toll not sure though I was at home

Even in the land of unrestricted autobahns youre not safe - just finished a one month driving ban for getting flashed at 3am doing 88mph on the autobahn - the stretch i was flashed on goes from totally unrestricted to 60mph, i was slowing down from high speed but obviously not fast enough.
The German authorities can look at factors like time of day, the road conditions, how busy the road was etc before issuing punishment - I believe the fact that i was in a UK registration M3 didn't help my case.

Getting a Prius next i think.

Once on the M6 Toll I was doing 100-something (obv kilometres, as I would never condone speeding). I wasn't paying attention to bridges and I looked up and saw a big white van parked smack in the middle of one of the bridges.

$£%*-me.

I was crapping myself for a couple of days. Then on the return journey a few days later, it was still parked there, so I actually exited the Toll, drove around and onto the bridge, got out and had a look at the van. Some muppet tradesman had parked his van on the bridge, as it was near a jobsite.

Anyway, I was on the M6 Toll again today. I think the typical speed was about 90. A few at 110. One retard in a van with Ireland plates in Lane 2 at 80mph with nobody in Lane 1 in front of him, so about 1/2 dozen cars went Lane 1 -> Lane 3 -> Lane 1 to overtake this middle lane moron.

Question

I live in Cannock so use the Toll a lot... Can't say I've ever seen a camera or copper and doubt I've ever done less than 90 average on a stretch... still never had a speeding ticket in 12 years of driving (touch wood) so must be lucky

Can top it all boys!

I was banned 4 years ago for doing an official 102mph up the M6 Toll.
If I recall it may have been considerably north of that before I saw a copper and video cameraman on the bridge ahead but I can't be sure
Still didnt slow down in time and a very nice plod pulled me in about half a mile down from the bridge.

Went to court and whilst waiting to go in they said that speeding motorists on the m6 toll pay all the court house staffs wages, they catch so many people.

So people, do NOT use it as a race track if you value your license.

That is all....
