Sub location Question

I have a 2011 335D Msport with the a base stereo system and I want DEEP BASS and clarity.

The company I am looking into is recommending DD Audio and I forgot the DSP, but in the car I sat in at their shop it was simply amazing the clarity, volume and the amount of BASS. So here in lies my question.

Is there enough room under the rear seats to build a proper enclosure and fire them forward facing into the footwell? I can't utilize my trunk because of the amount of gear I carry for work.

A sub with a base system does not solve the basic problems
with the base or Hi Fi system. Unless all you care about is the
frequency's below 50 hz. You can get very good bass out of two 8's in the under seats with the right amp. Its not quite basshead bass though but it does provide a balanced system.

I would be looking at one of the Helix amp/dsp products for an all in one solution
to the amp dsp. 82dsp ,V8 or 6 dsp these also take care of the eq problem.

To answer your question, No, there is no room under the rear seat for a good enclosure.
have you thought about an infinite baffle setup? There would be no enclosure as the trunk it's self will be the enclosure. You can still use the trunk for your gear.
Another option upgrade the underseat woofers with a Logic 7 pair and give them some more power. If you can get lucky enough, you may be able to find a set (or buy them new) of individual Audio woofers and give them even more power.

trust me, a corner sub will give you PLENTY of bass. If I want to get loud my entire car shakes (low amp gains) and the sub bass will pound your chest into submission

I am trying to avoid the trunk because my bags take up all the space in the trunk even for a corner system.

Is there any under seat subs, with additional amplification, that really sound good and have deep bass?

From the first subwoofer thread

1.) Under Seats.
The enclosures under the seats can be outfitted with specialized aftermarket subwoofers (Earthquake SWS-8) that are capable of decent low-end output. Don’t expect “earth-shaking” bass, but most people seem to be satisfied with the results from this upgrade. The Earthquakes do well with 100 – 150W per channel. They can be run mono, but a stereo signal will give better separation in the mid-bass range. Speaking of mid-bass, these speakers don’t handle this part of the spectrum particularly well. If you’re planning on upgrading to a trunk sub, you’re better off installing dedicated mid-bass speakers in this location.

Nearly any of the Drop in three way speaker sets for the front of the car with and amp or amp/dsp will be an order of magnitude better than what you have.
There are kits from many manufacturers now that are direct
fits.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=343673

There are more now than what in the above list.

I have to disagree with this one brother. More than 75W rms to the SWS at 35-100 hz is asking for magic smoke. (ask me how I know, go ahead. )
The logic 7 subs on the other hand will take that and then some with a smile.

I've heard REALLY good things about the new 2ohm underseat woofers from Helix. I'm going to pull my jehnerts and see first hand.

Umh, I have what you need!

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1313377

The shop that sells these says there is no sub needed with this set-up! I bought but never installed...

From personal experience I can tell you that the success to having good bass in these cars starts with the mid-bass, and EIGHT 6.5 kickbass woofers will surely delivery plenty of mid-bass, and good sub bass.

Hit me up with a PM and I'll shoot you some pics. Your interior has to be dark grey to match...

If you have a ski pass or you're willing to cut one then I'd recommend an IB build. This will be bass in your face in the cabin.

Having said that. DD audio do some ported enclosures that are tuned to as much as 48Hz, they have stupid xmax so guaranteed deep bass.

Another option is the infamous corner enclosure. You will get a lot of boom. A JL w7 in the right corner box will take on any ported DD box.

In any case if you open the ski hatch it will help massively! Unless it is IB where you are using the hatch.

I'd like to see those pics and need advice in a separate thread on a sub to choose...

Given you don't want to lose trunk space, id consider this option.

Or do what I did, and build a sealed enclosure in the "spare tire" storage bin area.

Check out WickedCAS.com. I also think they are on eBay now, but the seller may be in Europe.
