Most likely you've just flattened the battery by playing too long. Stick it on charge for a few hours and try again...

As you told me that error is 4A63....
Solution:
Re-align the DDE and EWS

How you do it?

1- Launch inpa
2- Select the engine
3- Choose the model of the engine (in your case
DDE6 = 318d, 320d, 325d, 330d, 335d ( 03/2005 - 09/2007 )
DDE7 = 318d, 320d, 325d, 330d, 335d ( 09/2007 - )

4- Select option: activate (usually F5 but check in your inpa)
5- Select option: EWS
6- Select option: reset ----> in progress ----> click ok
7- Bak to the main menu, ie, back, back, back, and close the INPA
8- Open the inpa and check the errors. That errors should have gone by now.
9- Turn the ignition off, remove the obd connector and start your car.

Please share the results.

Indeed. It's a shame he's so far from me. There are one or two things I'd like him to look at when I get the F30.

What is DDE and EWS and why do they need reset?

What is DDE and EWS and why do they need reset
I imagine its something to do with Engine management?
And how did it get into they misaligned state as in what were you
doing to cause it not to start in the first place. Just trying to avoid this
I have used inpa and DIS57 and not permanently messed stuff up
so far but I did get some temporary errors doing resets to adaptation
values.

EWS is the immobiliser system and DDE is the engine management system. Afraid I can't answer how they get out of sync just by doing an IBS battery registration...

I have no idea how I managed to do this, I was in the section where it said along the lines of IBS battery reigster, pressed the F key to go into it and must have pressed another key to reigsiter it - a window box came up and it being in german language I did not know what it meant so cleicked on the x in the corner.

I found another version of inpa online and was trying that as it was giving me further opitions to go into rather than the software I bought. As I was looking to replace the battery in the coming month I thought let me have a look at the steps within inpa and what options it gives me but i must have selected an option which i was not meant to

Basically, the immobiliser lost its settings and it did not allow the engine to start.

Why it happened?
Many reasons mate, and it can happen randomly by playing with DME. Some says that it can happen when you reset the battery / play with the immobiliser. In your case, reseting IBS may have triggered it.

Worst part is that, I have seen a case where one of the dealer suggested the client to change the immobiliser and keys. And you can guess the rest of the story. Car was out of the warranty and poor fellow had to bend over.... and paid the bill in the excess of ....

Well, I'll leave it to you guys to guess the amount of that bill.

Equally, I have heard of another dealer who charged only 1 hour labour charges to reset this.

I'm glad that it helped mistryn and thanks to all of you for the appreciation
