Great news for Chicagoans. Just came across this "home rule" exception law this week: http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/publ...?Name=098-0153

Thank you. I will keep a copy of this in my car, especially for the lines at the very end:

"(m) A home rule unit may not regulate motor vehicles in a
manner inconsistent with this Section. This Section is a
limitation under subsection (i) of Section 6 of Article VII of
the Illinois Constitution on the concurrent exercise by home
rule units of powers and functions exercised by the State."
