I found a set of drilled and slotted rotors and pads for my 330i on Ebay. its 200$ for everything..are these okay to buy? I was looking at **********s brake kit but its too pricey for me unfortunately.what else would i need to install this set? Thanks for the input!

I would be cautious.... Not only is it an ebay item, but becareful of rust... If you maintain your wheels and brakes frequently, then you might be clear... Even though they are zinc coated, it doesn't mean they're quality.

I wouldn't do it. I went this route on my 2000 TL back in the day, they looked sweet. But after a few months I noticed they didn't grab as well and I noticed one of the drilled holes began cracking. Wasn't the same brand as these, but remember that you get what you pay for. I wouldn't cheap out on such an important car component.

Rotors (plain) are made the same exact way by every manufacturer -- albeit the cheaper manufacturers don't have the same quality control specs or % of chemicals mixed in when forming the rotors, machines, etc. But 99.9% the rotors will be identical to ones purchased from the dealer. They work the same way -- now you might get some warped rotors, or out of round in certain brands but generally you're using the same rotor all around.

If you decide to go drilled or slotted, then take into account that most shops will not resuface these rotors. Some will and most will not.

I always use OEM pads -- there is no substitute for oem pads, no type of pad that you use will give you the quality and feel of oem pads -- not even aftermarket bbk's.

I say, use whatever rotor you'd like to use (rockauto has some great deals or advanceautoparts with coupon code visa) and just get oem pads.

be careful, i bought a set of front rotors and pads and rust got all over them after only a few weeks. (I had to brush wire them and apply silver color anti-seize compound). They look good now. Never seen this happened on OEM. Still have OEM rear rotors and dont see any rust even after 7 years. They look a little dark in color but nothing like rust crap.

I will definately not buy AM crap. I learned my lesson...you get what you paid for basically. These were only 99.00 for the set including pads and shipping.

YOu will have to do the extra work like I did. Brush wire hub, or paint them..some people here did...

They have a Zinc plate so they will not rust if the plate was done well. I would not go near these things, These are specifically made to be cheap not to perform to BMW specification. You will eventually count on these part to stop you in an emergency and your traction control will count on them hundreds or thousands of times as well.

Buy Quality and buy it once.

I bought these on ebay from brakemotive, I love them, I have had them for months now with no rust at all! And my sister has the same brand on her car, she's had them for six months with no rust!

Cross-drilled rotors are generally weaker. Your observation is a good heed.

There's no real reason to buy drilled rotors except for appearances.

It yields no gains on the street and they wear/crack/destroy themselves considerably faster under duress.

I bought brakemotive rotors for my G35 and I have to say they looked good and rust wasn't a problem but the front rotors warped in about 10k miles. They gave me another set cheap so I tried them again and once again they warped quickly.

I would not advise getting cheap rotors from ebay.

Where do you live? You and your sister's experience living in AZ or NM could be very different then someone living in VT or Ontario.

I use OEM roters, and their rust residence is impressive for a car that's driven year round in the north east.

I say get the ebay rotors!

I know plenty of people who have run these with zero problems. Who gives a shit if there's ever some surface rust on your rotors shit happens my oem rotors have rust on them sound I be shitting a brick?

I checked the guys rotors at my office, no rust he has had them for awhile loves them and he is very picky. But this is one guys experience they have sold literally like a million
