To all of my Chicago brethren and all of you driving to and from the city limits of Chicago:

I have just learned about a new city ordinance which prohibits any driver from idling their vehicle for more than 3 minutes while standing. The fines are yet to be determined. Here are some exceptions to that ordinance:

* Standing in traffic
* Emergency vehicles
* Vehicles which must idle to provide their intended purpose (lifts, camera vans, etc etc)
* If the outside temperature is below 32F or above 80F AND there is no air conditioned area within the vicinity.

Basically, this means that you have to shut off your engine while you are waiting for your crap food in the McDonald's drive-thru and while waiting on someone to get out of the grocery store.

Knowing that Chicago was $400M over budget last year, there will be a lot of people lurking for potential "victims" to give them tickets.

Since this is another one of those "home rules" they can go up to the maximum allowed which is $250.00

That's how they get away with tint law. The Illinois Vehicle Code was recently amended and now allows tint film of 35%. Chicago has a "home rule" and tint is illegal on the front windows. The fine for tint is $250 which is the maximum permitted by law.

They have been sending people in the streets downtown with parking meters and issuing $250.00 tickets for tint.

I can only assume they will do similar stunts and lurk for victims in their cars.

While they're at it, can they pass a f'n ordinance for the bass thumpers that shake houses when they pass by?! How is that not an ordinance? F'n noise pollution at it's best.

Yeah, my age is showing but so what?! Not cool when you have a sleeping baby in the car and sir thumpitythumpthump comes creepin' along waking him up from his beauty sleep. Not a fun experience.

i actually witnessed a guy taking a piss in an alley behind a dumpster midday and literally a second later, an undercover car happened to pulled in and cited the guy. no relevance whatsoever, but you'll be surprised where and when they find you.
