Needz Moar Powah!

Every time I go for a "spirited drive" in my little 328, I always end up feeling the same. If I'm piddling around and just happen to get on it for a second, she feels great; but like most things in life, I immediately get used to the power there is (not hard with 200 wheel heh), and then it feels so stale. I really can't wait to get around to sourcing and installing a final drive bump, I'm really hoping that takes care of the impotence. So sad I have N51, I'll prolly never get over it lol. Sure it's only like a 7 HP difference, but still. When you're a dedicated car nut like me, having the nerfed version just plain stings. Didn't even know it was a thing when I bought the car, not that it would have mattered anyway because it's not like there was an exact match sans N51 right next to it.

I know we basically just had this thread so... just wanted to vent a little bit. Guess I'm spoiled lol.

Then stop complaining and start modding. There is plenty you can do and not void the warranty - including trading to an M3.

Mods - Workin' on it! M3 - consider it almost weekly, lol. But another 20 grand doesn't come super quickly for me, unfortunately. Need to step my game up I suppose. Probably make it happen in a year or two, but in the meantime I'm working with what I've got. And whining at times.

Get the Sprint Booster, it will immediately eliminate the throttle lag and make the car more fun to drive. Hands down one of the best mods I did for the money! Easy DIY, took me 30 minuets and done!

Performance wise, it might as well be stock. I may have given her another 15 whp thus far with mods, maybe. But I'm in the camp of "nothing under 10% whp/tq gain is noticeable." Working on deleting secondaries though and then it'll be the final drive bump asap.

Thanks for the tip on the Sprint Booster. I'm wary though. Glad you like yours. Maybe I'll look into it some more. Seems a bit pricey for what it is, though. Then again, most car mods are lol. /shrug

Or just get a tune. At least you also gain some power - the benefits of a sprint booster are all in peoples heads.

Yeh.. had the bms pbx, all it was good for was throttle remap... Then I sold it and got BPC's tune.
Got my actually more responsive throttle + some powah.

Obviously a tune will do a lot more....but it also costs more. Throttle lag on the 328 N52 is awful, it’s a easy fix. It will at least feel more responsive off the line depending on the setting you choose.

Yes there a bunch of other mods he can do....but they get expensive.

I have done pretty much all power mods, just waiting to do headers and a retune. But I still have the Booster and it works even better with all the other upgrades.

OP’r......it just depends on how much you wanna spend and go down the rabbit hole.

Tbh bms or sprint booster throttle remaps are worthless
If you’re really trying to save up for an M3 I’d say don’t spend much more money on the 328
People are suggesting tunes and headers which will easily run 600-1800, which again although its noticeable, wouldn’t you rather put that money in the M3 savings jar?
Only mods I see worth being the price are carcoal delete/afe kr k&n filter/silicone intake hose, I did all 3 at the same time and throttle and acceleration increased (not a lot) but definetly noticeable, even the throtle feels quicker and did all that for $160
Then as for 2nd cats, depending on where you look you can get them chopped off and a pipe welded in for under $80 ( I got my muffler, resonator and 2nd cats removed and new pipe welded in for $150
After that most mods themselves are not expensive but when combined they will chip away at an M3 savings jar
Tune+install=600ish
Headers 1600 for AA i believ then what $700+ for install?
Any exhaust (besides a muffler delete) $600+ then add installation if you don’t do it yourself
If you really want to own an M3 I’d say ony do the 2 mods I mentioned, and when something does break or wears down then maybe splurge on performance parts like brakes or coilovers once the oem wear down
Besides that just save up and put any “parts money” towards an M3. A 328 with 20k worth of parts<an m3 for 20k plus 328 trade in

Those are nice mods for a 328
But after adding the costs of all the mods would you agree thats it better to keep it stock and put that towards the 20k needed tk upgrade to an M3?
I mean you have like what 3,500 in parts not including labor if not done as a diy? That’d be a good chunk of the 20k needed to upgrade to an M3
Not bashing, in this case I’d say OP stay away from modding a 328
But I love that our cars are the last i6 bmws and I’d do msot of the mods you’ve done
But then again I plan on keeping he car until it dies and then building it again, while getting a basic civic or kia as a daily down the line while the e92 becomes a show car or track car

You can increase a 328i's horsepower by like 30% for $2000 or so. And then you can beat it like a rented mule forever.

M3s are not for everyone. Have you ever lived with an M car? I put 50,000 miles on one. Price of E90 parts alone makes me wonder if I'd have been better off buying a 335 instead of an M3 back then.

It's what, $300 for a 0hp increase?

And is OP legit trying to save up for an M3, or simply lusting? Big difference.
