Buy a 2011 1M or the M235i?

Found a 2011 Valencia Orange 1M with 57700 kms for sale locally. Was priced at $56900, now $52900.
Debating on this or a new M235i. 🙇

You should know the 1M when brand new is just shy of $60K (fully loaded). This car is rare, not that rare but the asking price with given mileage CANNOT be justified at all, IMO. I would say 3+yr old car in an absolute clean condition should be at about $37.5K at most. (Wholesale would probably be around $30 - 32K)

If you want to pay $50K+, then spend it on the M235 instead. No kidding.

I think that the 1M will hold resale value better, given its rare... Did you drive them both?

If your looking for a daily driver then the 235 but if this is a weekend car that will be stored in the winter I think its an easy choice.....1M. Like stated previously these are going to hold their value and in my opinion will only become more rare.

You're dreaming about the $30-32K. These cars hold their value. You'll be able to get $50K or more for it in 10 years.

1M, are you crazy for questioning that price. Do a quick search and see every 1M is over 50,000USD here in the states.

If you see a 1M, you buy it. At a reasonable price of course.

everyone is entitled to their own opinion, of course. From my perspective, 1M is not the ultimate M car, if I were to spend $50K on a M car, it would be a M3/4. For the record, I had a 2013 F10 M5 which I sold this past summer, although it is not as agile as the 1M, I do have to say my M car depreciated just like another ordinary cars out there. For the price to be asking even in the $50Ks is crazy, the same $ would have been for the asking price of a 2011 M3 CPO in any Canadian BMW dealerships.

I do agree 1M is pretty rare. For an owner who drove 60,000km and only depreciated not even $10K over 3 yrs. I guess if you got the $, then go right ahead and spend it because as it ages, there will be much better M car that will supersede the 1M performance in every aspect. In the end, to each his own.

You're totally missing the point. Why do some super cars from the 70's that cost $10K now fetch $500K? I'm not saying the 1M is that but you get the drift. There was less than 700 made for the U.S.

Point taken.

At the end of the day, if you believe this is truly a rare gem and willing to pay, then to each his own.

Extremely rare ? Here is info on the production total for the life.

If you want 450whp off simple bolt-ons and a tune then get the 1M. If you want a full BMW warranty then get the 2 series. I think you'll have a lot more fun in the 1M. If you've never driven a N54 then you're missing out.

I personally don't like the 1M, its too small for me. The M235i to me looks better and if its roughly the same price, its a better choice imo.

my 2 cents.
