Stolen bits!!!
Returned home to find this....
Can anyone please tell me what's missing...sorry if this is a really dumb question. Any pointers on what to replace, from where and how much it might cost would be really helpful. thanks, edit: this is a 2009 335i |

Are you sure they were pinched ? It's a common fault on e92's that these pop off in cold weather!
It happened to me on my previous e92. Took the car back to BMW and had new parts fitted FOC!

Chances are they came off through use in the cold weather, well known issue I believe.
I always put warm water over them to defrost before use on cold mornings to prevent this from happening. |

@scotgc/Lex - you may well be right....looking closer, I dont see any scratches on the bumper to suggest that the covers have been forced off.
oh well....will take it around to the local dealer and see what they think. thanks anyway. |

If it is just the covers, then its down to poor screenwash concentration, just make sure next time you have a stronger mix
If the whole unit is missing then sorry to hear that and will require a new unit each side as said above |

As before; common problem with weak/shit screenwash.
An expensive fix. |

Obviously BMW aren't shouting about it any more but because of some sort of design flaw, if you have insufficient "anti-freeze" in your water bottle and the water ices up it can push the washers out a bit with the result that they become loose and the first time you use the headlight washers after the freeze is over, the pressure pops them out.
However, design flaw or not, it could be argued that the driver who can't be bothered to keep his washers from freezing (after all that's why BMW fit heated washer nozzles) - so that he can use them in dirty freezing weather, deserves what he gets. BMW have actually taken this tack before with people who have had this problem and it seems to vary from dealer to dealer with some even saying that they can test to see if you have genuine BMW washer fluid in the bottle! Go see the dealer and hope their attitude is positive. This problem never occurs when you have enough washer fluid in the system so at least you will be able to make sure it doesn't happen again. |

Good result.
BMW do usually replace them as it is a known issue. What warranty do you have out of interest? I'm guessing your car is over 3 years old and outside original manufacturer's warranty. Is is an AUC warranty or an extended warranty? The main cover isn't expensive but add the jet and labour then a dent in your wallet would be noticeable. |

Yes, aslong as it is mixed strongly enough.
