Bimmerspecialist.com says 12/09-> uses NGK LZFR6AP-11GS and ->11/09 uses NGK PLZFR6A-11S.

At least I've seen "NGK PLZFR6A-11S" mentioned twice, but RealOEM says that is "ENDED".
The 11S plug itself isn't ended, but it's part number has. From earlier in this thread:

Quote:
Bosch FR-7-NPP-332 and NGK PLZFR6A-11S. Both now have the same bmw part number 12122158253. These plugs are listed as "high power" while the original plugs are not, for what it's worth.

It appears that BMW gave a single part number for both the Bosch and NGK plug that are the last ones listed on RealOEM, so that they can be used interchangeably at the dealer. Per the post on the previous page
Quote:
Forgot to add that some of the new plugs [from the dealer] were NGK and some were BOSCH (same part numbers on each spark plug box).
I'd still prefer to use the same make for all six.
The new part number (and both plugs listed above) is active for your car in RealOEM.

Exactly when the 11GS plug can be used, appears dependent on the ignition coil, there were 5? versions for the N52, and I've seeing conflicting and changing information on the web, including at RealOEM.

The Bentley has the torque as: 23nm +-3 nm (18 +- 2 ft-lbs)

with copper-based anti-seize, hand thread initially to prevent cross-threading.

Great write up! Just replaced mines today with NGK LFR6AIX-11 started right up with no issue. 3rd spark plug had some oil on it. But thank you everyone for your input sure did make the job a lot easier and saved myself $260

OK, I'm still confused, can anybody advise? I have a 2005 330i (190 kW) so if I understand well, I can choose between the old NGK ILZFR6D11 and the new NGK PLZFR6A11S? Can I go wrong with either of these?

(The only problem is that I can't find the newer PLZFR6A11S anywhere in my country - they're on ebay but for not for E90, at least the description doesn't say that).

I guess the older ILZFR6D11 is a safe bet...

Both will work, even with the earliest N52 coil, but the PLZFR6A11S would be better. I have a July '05 build 325i, and these plugs work well. The gap on these is 0.43.

OK, thanks. I think this is the only ebay auction that I could find that clearly says it's suitable for E90 330i 2005+ so I'll buy these:

Wondering if anyone can advise me on this - I have a coil that is bad in my car. Plan on having it replaced and all plugs..... car is 2006 325i with production year of 05.

Was going to do it myself (with help) but chickened out so having an independent shop do the work.

Was going to order these: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/se...k+plug&submit=

and http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...gs+Best+Seller

Is this all I need? I keep seeing in some of the diy's on youtube and bavauto that references the boot for the plug. Is this something additional I need to order? Or does ignition coil come with the boot.

Thanks! Sorry, I know, new member with an annoying question.....

Just changed mine today on my 2007 328xi E92 with 77K miles. I didn't use anti-seize.

Bought the BMW NGK plugs ( LZFR6AP11GS ) from 4WheelsAutoParts.com

Coils

Are the coils to be replaced with the spark plugs? Or only if there is an issue related to the coils (miss fires, etc.) are they to be replaced? I need to replace my spark plugs and I am not sure if the coils should be replaced as well.

Thanks

huge help...just did this the other night with plugs at 126k km's (78000 miles) and went well.

Did not have to remove the strut tower brace or use a knuckle attachment, just the right combo of extensions.

As many pointed out, you do not need to remove the tower brace to access #5, #6. Changed at ~80k miles, old ones looked good still, very clean. No improvement in idling or startup with the change, I guess they could have stayed longer.

This is a great thread! I am actually about to change the spark plugs on my 330i - not for mileage reasons but for age. As far as I can see the original spark plugs from when the car was new are still in the car and it is now 7 years old. Mileage is currently 65k km, but I am motivated to replace the spark plugs due to pinging and have read that it is often caused by spark plugs. Otherwise the engine is running fine at the moment apart from a slight rumble on the odd start up and minor vibrations when idling. There is also a general slump in performance during this pinging which is in the lower to midrange rev range, so pretty annoying and hoping that this sorts this out! I have chosen the Bosch plugs, so hopefully they'll do the trick!

Just replaced my plugs. Have a 07 N52 328xi, used NGK PLZFR6A-11S. Ones that came out were the ILZxxx. Have about 97k on them.

DIY was spot on, took 90 mins incl everything.

Even though the old ones still looked good, car is back to being itself. definite increase in power, smoother and MPG remains to be seen.

Thanks.

Still waiting for my plugs to arrive! Did it change anything else, was your car's engine pinking at all?

I think overall, it just seems to run a bit better. There was nothing wrong to begin with but ,obviously, when the ignition source is a little better, things run a little better.

btw, gapped mine to .044. (came that way but double checked)

Thanks! Looking forward to doing mine - car has low mileage but is now 7 years old and still on the original plugs, so hoping to see an improvement - went for the Bosch plugs, so will see how they perform. Will check an adjust the gaps if need be!

Apart from the pinking my car is running fine though!

Will the new NGK spark plug part #12122158253 have the NGK PLZFR6A11S label? Or will this not be present becasue it has ended as per Real OEM?

Basically, I want to know if part #12122158253 is the same as #12120035915?

It seems they are the same part numbers referring to xxx11s. As mentioned before, part numbers were consolidated with the bosch plug.
