The piece of **** is going
2012 has been a S*** year for me and the BMW e90 320i MSport has been the worst car i have ever owned. Don't get me wrong, it is a lovely car to drive and own when its working, but it been so unreliable and if it wasn't for the warranty, would have cost me nearly 5k in repairs so far!!!! Once February comes my warranty will have expired, the dealer wouldn't give a S*** and it would be my problem to sort any more faults.
Since i purchased it in Feb it has been back to the dealers 7 times and had everything from coilpacks / injectors / DTC pump, ABS sensors, something to do with the catalytic converter and this time they delivered it back with the blowers off, thought thats a bit strange when the windows started misting, turned the fan on and my interior heater sounds like an aeroplane engine, it is so noisy they obviously knew and turned it off. Well to cut a long story short, they are buying back and it is going. £1750 less than i paid for it over 10 months ago which i do not think is too bad. Selling it privately i may have been able to reduce that loss but i would have had the hassle of selling it, viewing, receiving money and with the amount of times it keeps breaking, the new owner would probably be banging on my door moaning, So F*** it, cutting my losses!

What a nightmare.Sounds like the dealership have been a bit naughty along the line though.
Anyway, glad you're getting it sorted-what will your next purchase be-another BMW? |

ive had quite a few bmws ,all been fairly fault free ,only thing thats ever gone wrong has been a soleniod for the valve timing which was an easy repair
maybe you just got a bad egg or the mechs that worked on the car lacked the understanding of the technology |

I think you've just bought a bit of a lemon, matched with the fact that it might not be the best of variants.
However,as a whole, bmw's are sound cars so don't be put off. Yes,the theft issue continues. But other marques are vulnerable in their own way... I would certainly be looking for a 330 and get your mojo back. You know it makes sense-go on,you owe it to yourself...! |

Get rid shortie, get a diesel of something, 330/335 are very good cars and are dry reliable also.

Not a bad loss over 10 months, sounds like the dealer knows you've had a shit experience.
I had similar with my first decent car. Bought a new Clio 172 in 2004, was great for 2 years then royally fucked up for the next 10 months with 14 separate visits to the dealer for warranty work. Loved that car, great to drive but in frustration I traded it against a Honda before the warranty expired. Renault were cunts throughout the whole experience.

Hey bud i think you're fairly local to me, ne Brum? So id assume Sytner Sutton??
That's not too bad a loss over 10 months sure you've had the aggro on top of everything else going on so its right to get rid, maybe they could also source you a 330 at favourable rate perhaps? Just a thought. Audi a4 black edition is nice though.... Good luck with it Garry. |

don't forget the 325d either if your budget can't stretch to a 330d, same robust engine as the 330d being the main thing.
You've made the right choice to cut your losses and move on. |

Hey Shortie,
How about a nice e91 330d msport; or even a 335d, though the latter are hard to find. Good-luck with the search and keep us posted, it will hopefully take your mind off other things for a while. Steve.

As said above, try a 330d or 335d. A different engine can make the car feel quite a lot different. Also dont tarnish all 3 series with the same brush just cos you had problems with your 320i - give another one a try |

Which is why I didnt mention that in my post above.
If its reliability you are after then the 330d seems to fit the bill and there are plenty about to choose from. I'm not saying its the best car - but probably the most reliable on the whole. |

Is the 320d or 325d a reliable engine? Slightly better running costs than the 330d or 335d.
