Well, I tried re-doing the VO code (add $644, I suppose I haven't tried everything with $664 again...) and then coding the full car with the revtor expert mode profile, but still no luck.

I also found a SG_RESET job for the 2URAD which DOES, in fact, work. But it doesn't seem to display bluetooth options after resetting

i have added $644(uk) and now have TEL on the professional radio but no phone icon. when i look use inpa to display the modules there are no ulf mulf listed. i have tried sg_reset, even tried outputing the TRC file but i get an error. any ideas ?

Soon after I made my last post above, I did a full-car SG_RESET, which seems to have done the trick. I'd try that.

You should add $639 and $620 to VO to Cas and FRM. Then code Cappl to default using expertmode. Then sg reset to TCU with sg_reset also using expertmode.

I had takeout the BMW assist from VO , because I had some SOS failure warning. so wouldnt be better to add $644 to VO instead of $639?

I'm preparing to retrofit Bluetooth in my non-iDrive 2008 335i so it sounds like for US cars, the OPS interface is needed... or did alexwhittemore stumble across the solution?

I just did my first "coding" by registering my new battery, so I'm still blindly feeling my way through INPA and have yet to try out NCSExpert.

I have no idea how to perform a "full-car SG_RESET" but if this SG_RESET procedure cannot enable full Bluetooth functionality, I either will have to get my indy shop to do it for me, or splurge on this OPS interface: what other uses would this interface be valuable for? At $400 USD, it's way too pricey just to get Bluetooth activated unless this tool will allow me to do much, MUCH more useful functions than Bluetooth activation.

All coding will be done in NCS Expert. INPA is a diagnostic tool (Very useful IMO) might be needed to tell if your module is connected properly but NCScan also show this in ECU selection. I suggest getting to know NCS b4 you jump at this. Look for a intro tut in the Coding success thread. Its a sticky can't miss it. It won't explain everything that is needed for this retrofit to be done but it is to get you started. After that is a tut on learning to change vehicle order. ie VO or FA. I am planning to do this retrofit soon as well. Will report with result or headaches.

Yea, I've already reviewed that sticky and many other tutorials, but without actually having a real coding project that needed to be accomplished, there is only so much those familiarization tutorials can do for you because many projects, like this Bluetooth retrofit, don't have any real DIY step-by-step procedures so there really isn't any source of information that anyone can reference to know which specific modules need to be modified for any given change in the components of the car. And the only way to become familiar enough with all the inter-relationships of the different modules is with coding experience. But I don't want to just go about mucking with my modules just for the sake of learning; there must be a real necessity of coding a module due to component changes as I only want to modify just the modules affected.

And I want to avoid the "trial and error" approach if possible.

You still need to familiarize yourself with NCS either way. Even just read out a module. You cannot hurt the car or modules. So go tinker with the tutorial on coding digital speedo or something simple from the coding spreadsheet. IT IS STILL real coding no matter how small. How else will you learn if you do not try? You can always code back a module to stock if you change anything eitherway. I'm attempting this retrofit like I said and I've never done any retrofits in my life. Here's a thread to look at btw http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=689846

NCS expert will not brick your modules so don't be afraid to mess around a little. Everything can be reset to defaults. This is possible without an OPPS head or ICOM, I have done it so no reason to spend $500 on Bluetooth.

Bumping an old thread for some help.

In the past, this worked for me in a car with bluetooth prewiring 5GA and just with a K+DCAN cable:
1) remove 5GA, add 639/644 to VO
2) FA_Write CAS+FRM
3) recode CAS/FRM with SG_Codieren
4) SG_Reset 2URAD

However, Im trying this on another car and after following the above steps the Radio resets but the Telephone option doesn't show up. I tired using 644, then 639, then also 644 and 620. Nothing works. It's as if the radio is not recognizing the new VO for some reason.

Any ideas?

This other car has nav?

Try 640 with 644.

Post the VO of the car. What module(s) are you trying to use for this?
