N54tech is the name of the tuning website. I can't open it from work, but there is a specific sticky section on that website detailing N55 ISO. I recommend you read that.

Hey guys....I have a question. I'm running ISO HEX 4. But now the newest version is 5.3. Should I upgrade to 5.3? I read stuff like people loosing their settings and people hitting high amounts of boost and then the JB4 switching them back to map 4 due to high boost levels. Anyone have any input on this or what I need to look out for if I do the upgrade?

Just put on my big boy pants and did the update. It was super easy - with the exception of my laptop crapping out after I cut the diode. That was a bit of a scare, but I got it working haha.

Water pump is failing - which is probably not to blamed on the JB4. Temporary loss of power while driving. Once/Twice per day, I hit the throttle and get absolutely no feedback. I can floor it, and the car will go nowhere. The JB4 might not be at fault for this one either. Sometimes, the car just takes off like I hit the Nitrous. I can move the throttle down about 1mm, and the car shoots forward, as if I downshifted. |

that first picture is for an N54 board, where you have to cut both of them. N55 JB4 only needs the one diode cut

I've been running ISO 5.3 from the day I installed the JB4 and have never had any waterpump staying on issues. No complaints at all about 5.3 actually. Hope that eases your mind a bit.

He's talking about the water pump staying on after the car is shut off issue, which drains the battery. It's a side effect that can happen with ISO if an OCC is also installed. There is a work around for it though. I believe someone posted a video about it in this thread.

Glad I saw this! Got my JB4 yesterday and my OCC came today. I will be sure to leave the stock line hooked up, but just hide it away.

Sorry for the delay!
Update: water pump failed, but that was just the normal BMW thing. It was bound to happen at some point. Had it replaced under warranty. Now the issue is the car dies at cold start. It just Boggs and then dies. After reading around, I think it's the stark plugs, injectors, or fuel pump. Really didn't expect everything to crap out on me two months after buying the car. |

Now that it's been half a year, would you say that 5.3 is reliable? It appears that5.3 is still the latest firmware.
