drove about 45 mins from CT to check it out today with some friends. Browsing the website last night I saw that "no appointments were necessary" for stuff besides detailing. Got there around 10:30am and Eric told me he couldn't do anything (all I wanted was exterior steam clean) until 4PM. Had I known an appointment was required, I would have made one instead of wasting that much time driving for no reason. The whole ordeal left me with a very sour taste in my mouth and given those poor business practices, I will not be going back. Thought the concept was pretty cool and efficient, but the implementation on the business end (in my experience) was poor.

Wow, that sucks and that's probably the first negative thing i've ever heard in regards to them... If you can, you should really try it out one of these days because you will be amazed how good of a job they actually do. Every time i bring a car there it comes out as good if not better than when we picked it up and if there's any issues I let Eric know and he resolves them. Even before just getting a regular steam wash I always call ahead since it takes around 20 minutes and make sure he can do it when i get there.

Ok sounds good. Anyway you would want to do it later than 9? One of my buddies with a modded S4 might come down with me somewhere around noon if you can do then?

@psmitty95 andketblk335i, you guys going to birdie's this weekend? family's M3 was egged sitting in manhattan - the bastards threw eggs at us while we're just sitting minding our own business and now she needs a detail because of the acidic egg residue.

I love the innovative and environmentally sound way of cleaning the car, but I do have one question. I am in the auto appearance field as well, and too harsh of chemicals or even too high of a concentration of car wash can strip wax/sealant, so is this process safe for vehicles that have wax and/or sealant on them? Will it strip the wax or sealant off the surface?

I really wish I was closer!!!

Unfortunately I might not be there until later... I plan on going sometime tomorrow to get a wash and fill up with E85 but i'm not sure when i'll be able to make it out just yet. Hopefully around 11 so I can be there when jetblk335i is there but we'll see.

I'm pretty sure they use little to no chemicals... It's mostly steam and a microfiber cloth from what i've seen then followed up by a quick spray on wax. I could be wrong but i'm pretty sure that's what it is.

It's a special gas you can only get at some places that's basically pure ethanol. The guy at the station told me someone had it tested and it's between 110-115 oct. If you have a JB4 they just updated map 5 so it could run E85 and it made a huge difference. The car pulls so much harder especially in the higher gears.

no i know of E85, i just didn't think these cars were designed to run it safely. Also that stuff burns twice as quickly as regular gas no? i've read up on it quite a bit

Well if you have JB4 it's safe since they just put out the new autotuning map for it. And i heard that it burns twice as quick also but all the people that have been running it with JB4 for the last few weeks have said they've only lost around 1 mpg. That's probably because we're mixing it. I only did 4 gallons of it today so i think i'm around a 30/70 mix?

Yea i open it up pretty often as well and before this filled up with 93 around once a week maybe less. That gas station is awesome though, and the guy they had pumping the gas today was really nice. I had a long conversation with him about E85, how it works, and the prices of gas. Also i didn't notice much of a difference at first but after it being in map 5 for around an hour and doing a few pulls i began to notice a huge difference. Second feels like first used to, third feels like second used to, etc...

yeah surprised it took you that long to notice it! there is a cheaper e85 station in new rochelle if you are ever comin back from the city or something. Again the only downer about the station by Birdie's is their hours.. and being closed on Sunday..

Yea either way i was surprised by the cost. Only around $3.70 a gallon was cheap in my opinion. I've never used E85 so I was expecting it to be expensive like race gas.

On another note anyone know who's silver e90 lci that was there today? It looked really good
