A rock decided to leave some damage on my hood! Take it somewhere to get it repaired?

My 3 week old 328i was doing great until I got back today after a 20 minute ride to get something for my girlfriend. I get home, park the car in the garage and then I realized that there these 2 nasty scratches that are past the clear coat. They are included in the picture. Well at least I lasted a bit longer than that other poster who got scratched by a rock on the drive home from the dealer =[

I don't know if I should try to do this myself, or send it to a detailer in my area. I live in Kearny, NJ so if anyone knows one that I should be referred to, do so. If you guys recommend a DIY, then can you tell me what the first steps should be? Friend told me to get some touchup paint and sandpaper.... >_>

Before this thread gets too technical, do you have a porter cable, flex, or rotary?

I do have a random orbital coming in the mail, but I am a newb to everything that is to detailing. I was hoping I could practice on my mothers 99 accord, offer her a free detail job and practice everything on her car.

Which RO, PC or Flex? Sanding a chip isn't the toughest DIY in the world, but the issue is that the risk is high *if* you screw it up. It's tough to give advice on this sort of thing since a lot of it is just based on experience with wetsanding. Let me know which RO and which compounds you have coming or have available and I will see if I can get you a quick run down on how to tackle a chip like that.
