One ignition coil per month?

2 in 2 months; #2 last month #4 this month. 2007 N52N 70000miles. Should I expect to change the remaining 4?

I lost one in March or so and then changed the rest myself following the spark plug DIY. It's was just too much of a hassle when one goes out that I figured it was worth it. I bought the parts here: http://www.autohausaz.com/

I would. In the past it was considered good preventive maintenance to do all of them once 1-2 went bad.

I just wonder if there could be something "above" that could mess the coils. The coincidence is incredible.

The coincidence really isn't all that incredible. I you think about it for a minute, you'll realize that they all have fired nearly the exact same amount of times. If they are all made nearly the same they will all fail at the same time.

I'm surprised someone didn't tell you to replace them all at once. That being said, replace the rest if you don't want to deal with more misfires.

Replace the other 4 at the same time, so that if you keep the car for another 30k miles, you will know that they all are about the same age. Thats what i would do once they all start misfiring. I will be doing this eventually.

Aren't these like $50 each? I took my to the dealership because I didn't have time to order parts, and I think that's how much they charged me.

This should happen way beyond only 70000 miles, IMO...

For the record, the #4 misfire was not the ignition coil. It was the spark plug! So much for the 100000 miles interval...

Are you not replacing the plugs at the same time as the coils?

I will change the 5 others in the next weeks as I have them. I don't see the point to change the coils - it should not be on a preventive schedule unless the design is weak. Bosch doesn't impress me. I have a spare in case.
