long island potholes

On my way home from the hospital last night... didn't even see it, filled with water and in a dark part of the road i guess... Got to find out that the tpms sensor works just fine though. Any chance I can get this thing warrantied? I am going to have a talk with the power company (who actually dug the whole and didn't properly fill it back in)

Anyone know if the tire can be re-used/ put onto a new rim?

Sure, if you purchased the tire/wheel warranty it´s definitely covered.

Well your rim is living up to your forum name! Unless you bought the wheel/tire insurance then you won't be able to get it covered.

Assuming they're OEM wheels.

Man that's a big dent! I want to see a picture of the pothole now. BTW how fast were you going?

Damn!!!!

I wouldn't repair the wheel. With that much damage the strength of the wheel will never be the same. Someone could make it 'look' right but wait until you hit the next pothole/train track/etc. It may not even be as large as this one. You will just be setting yourself up for a world of hurt.

i was doing maybe 25mph. The inside of the rim is all cracked too... noway this one can be repaired. I was wondering if maybe miro would warranty it since its a M6 rep. The next day I found out that the power authority dug a hole there and didn't fill it in properly. I am talking to them about paying to have it replaced.

Anyone know if I can reuse the tire... or am I buying a new tire too...

doubt you can get it covered under warranty because its not really a manufacturing defect. also, miro wheels are pretty strong. i have a set of m6 reps too....you should have your suspension and steering components checked out to make sure no damage was sustained there because it must have taken quite a blow to damage the wheel like that.

Oh man, that must have been a huge pothole. Being a LI resident, I feel your pain. I can't stand driving on these roads. I find myself cursing out loud when hitting the ridiculous potholes on LI. We're suppose to be one of the wealthiest countries in the world, and we can't afford to fix the roads or build them better?? Also, who's idea was it to put manhole covers in the middle of the roads? Put them on the sidewalks. This stuff just aggrevates me.

The day after I hit it, I went by to take a look at the hole, and buy a wrench to change out my rims for my winter rims... and the LIPA guys were there patching the hole. They took my info and # to see if they could get their company to pay me for the rim... they said they've seen it happen in the past. LI E90 thanks for the support. You are why I am moving off this island as soon as I can.

I hit a pothole on the on-ramp for the SSP near Mercy Medical

Took out both tires on the right side of the car...all I hear was "Pssssssssss" while the air was coming out of the tires and I had to gain enough speed on the highway to not kill myself.

No rim damage though - stock wheels are pretty tough.

Still wondering about the tire... it doesn't look damaged, can I reuse that on a new rim? Anyone have any experience with that?

From the pix the tire looks fine... but it could bubble when it's inflated back on the rim. It's worth a shot to see at least if it'll hold up.

Experience vs. Risk

IMHO not worth the risk.

Consider yourself lucky that it is just a rim and tire.

I guess you need strong rims for Strong Island.

All I can tell you is that I went xi equally for the roads and the weather.
