Anyone got a Nexus 7?

Any good?

Quite fancy one. Very portable eBook reader, browser, media player, twittertwatter, games player. I'm tempted. And £15 to spend on Google Play or whatever it's called.

Or do you think this talk of an iPad Mini will come to anything?

I was tempted at that price point (google actually makes a slight loss on some models). But after reading a few reviews I was put off.

I've gone down the Apple alternative router before trying to save money and always ended up with an inferior product that i regretted. Worth spending a bit more and getting the real thing.

The Nexus 7 is 95% as good as an iPad for 40% of the price.

It lacks 3G (which half the iPad range does as well of course) and it certainly has some issues with the screen which were clear as day a mile off when I looked at one. I also think that they have too little storage, but that's not actually so much of a problem as I wouldn't actually use one to house/play music, only to 'control' my content which is streaming from elsewhere to a proper audio output.

I think it's a great piece of kit for the money.

I'm planning on buying one.

People I know that have one love it.

A few expert reviews think it is the best tablet out there regardless of cost.

I would have liked to have seen more memory or even a card slot and 3G too.

Have one too - it's fantastic - really quick and better than the PS2 for gaming in terms of graphics/physics etc. Shame I have one with a blown speaker - need to get a replacement.

It seems the general consensus is I think I might have to treat myself. And really I think I'd only need the 8GB version.

So as an Android noob, any games/apps worth going for? Especially for a 4 year old.

I've got one and my daughter got one after having a play.

I can surf the net & email with Wi-Fi or tether, GPS is good so Google maps & CoPilot etc work well, calendar, office, notes, music etc etc what else could you get for the money that works so well - had no issues with the screen or anything, both tablet are without problems & the battery lasts well

OH MY GOD how much is your insurance on the car? 4yr old with a car

No but seriously, If you dont mind spending the money, the ipads are awesome, but personally I am a big fan of android, espcially for the tinker-ability of the platform. There will be lots of free apps you can download and some great stuff you can download too.

You can search all apps via laptop on google play website.

Also: maybe something like this would help.

Went for the 16GB in the end and it's just what I wanted. Recommended.

I bought a 32gb version - great price. Easy to set up; works well, battery life good. Keeps me amused on the trains.

But no Sky Go app and the Google store for films is disappointing.

Anyone trying to claim the coupon just hold fire. It's a nightmare. If I manage it I'll post up a 25 page 'How To...'

It's a great bit of kit I agree. As far as Sky Go is concerned then I guess it's up to Sky to pull their finger out for Jelly Bean. And I put my own movies on so no problems there. Hopefully Google Play should improve soon.
