'08 335i Sport package - Wheel fitment for winter tire package?

Hey all - at my wit's end trying to figure out a late-to-the-game winter tire setup. No dealers in the area seem to have stock that will fit the car, and one dealer refused to supply anything that wasn't a run-flat since it would "disable a stock safety feature"...

2008 335i - RWD sedan with the staggered sport setup.

Can I drop to a square 17" setup? Does anyone have any recommendations as to what will fit over the sport package front brakes?

Thanks in advance. I'd love to avoid stuffing it into a curb for a second time this season if at all possible...

Check out the tire and rim sets for your car at TireRack. I have a 328 and the Rial X10 wheel, $120, is 17x7.5, narrower is better, and I have Dunlop 4D run flats, $201 each, which helped me climb up an icy sloping driveway with RWD this past week. The Rial wheels accept BMW center caps. That wheel might fit the 335 as well, but need to put your car specs in to be sure.

I actually JUST threw on my winters, which I just purchased. I drive a 335i, and I went down to a 17' square 225/45-17 setup. I found a killer deal on oem style 393 wheels, that came with 1 season used winters on them. They clear the brakes, and the car handles much more comfortable commuter. It's less of a raw, connected, direct feel, coming from the 18's with high performance tires, but it actually transformed my car into a much better commuter. Look into them, they don't look half bad on the car. They're stock f30 wheels.

When I get home today I'll let you know the package I just bought from Discount Tire Direct and the price I paid. No one will beat this price delivered to your house on rims ready to mount. And they are running their Presidents Day sale this weekend. I know you'll get $100 and another $60 (if you use their credit card) for tires and another $100 and $60 in Visa gift cards for rims.

I just did this on their New Years sale. No one came close. No tax, free shipping too. I got Michelin X-Ice 13's. I live in Buffalo. I know about driving in snow! Give me a couple of hours.

4 Michelin X-Ice Xi3 225/45 R17 $618.48
4 Drag DR-67 17x7.5 5-120 BKMTXX $460.00
Wheel Install Kit for DR-67 wheels $45.00
(20 lug nuts for wheels)
Free mounting, balance & shipping. No tax.
Total $1123.48 minus $320 in Visa Gift Cards
Final cost $803.48

Then my son reminded me the TPMS errors will be lighting up the dashboard. Usually I don't care. Then I decided to add them. Add another $50/wheel if you want them.

After driving on them for 6 weeks, they are great in all conditions. Overnight, back in January, we got a foot of snow and I plowed right down my street in the early morning. In most ways they run smoother and quieter than my summer Conti DWS06, but that's a different tire.

Same car as you 2008 335i manual, sport package, staggered wheel setup. Also I had old BMW center caps. Popped out the DR ones and popped in the BMW ones.
