Do you mean the arm that passes you the belt? Mine seems to work without issue.
What's wrong with yours?

my drivers side never grabs the belt but passenger side is perfect everytime. There doesnt seem to be an issue with the mechanism it just seems to be the hook part of the arm that grabs the belt.No big issue though i just reach back and grab it myself

Possibly the silliest feature in my E92, in my opinion. Mine work fine though, both sides.
But the arms look really flimsy, surely only a matter of time until they break? Mike. |

Yes they maybe a little flimsy looking but I've never heard of one snapping.

I had a warranty issue with mine; the helper kept loosing 'grip' of the belt halfway through it's extension. So, it would always start the process and halfway the belt would slip out of its grasp, and the belt helper would arrive empty.
Turns out the belt itself was worn. Replaced under warranty and hey presto, working again. The belt feeders in the CLK are much more robust and the belts are actually fed through them, so no slipping or missed grabbing issues.

Mine work perfectly too. The passenger seat one, i believe utilises the occupancy sensor in the seat. So if it detects no one in the seat then it won't give you the seatbelt. Think it also says this in the manual.
If its still not working, i'd hazard a guess that it may be this sensor at fault and as such, a warranty issue. |

i noticed on my 335d that if the belt itself is pretty stiff and new and flat - it works fine
but if the belt becomes a little supple with use it just bends and slips off the belt assist when it goes forward............. not much you can do about that! Max

another thing is - if someone has broken the arm - it'll obviously not work
My new M3 driver side has a bit broken inside the arm.............. which means the little lever on the end stays floppy - meaning it doesn't stay out at a right angle to the arm itself........... its floppy and flops back to about 45 degrees from the arm and loses the belt The lever on the end of the arm should remain stiff at 90 degrees - and only once it retracts should it flop back - to allow it to sit back into the door panel. Pointed it out to the garage and they're gonna replace the arm Max

Re-extending Seat Belt Assist
Does anyone know if there's a way to re-extend the seat belt arm?
Sometimes I get in my car, doors closed and may be going over some paperwork or on the phone and haven't put on my seatbelt yet. After a few seconds the arm will retract. |

Try a bit of spray on starch to harden the belt up, that should help!
