Disconnecting battery

I unplugged the negative terminal of the battery and figured that there's this extra wire hanging around taped together with other negative wires.
Is this wire supposed to be hanging around like that unplugged?

Yes, don't worry about it.

Yah, I hear that that wire is for transporting across the sea or something like that.

I noticed the same thing when I did the light weight battery kit. I was wondering where it came from, since I didn't knock anything loose, but realized it must not be needed when I everything worked ok after the install.
