@TDIwyse Can you tell me where to tap the electric boost signal? Does it give actual boost readings across all rpm? Want to use jt to check my boost below 3k. (Same symptom as these other guys)

Let me know if this helps you.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...3&postcount=19 If you have a Bavarian Technic tool then you can see the boost as well, without taping into the MAP. Here's the realoem diagram of the intake with the pressure sensor. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...76&hg=11&fg=40 |

Ok, that helps a bit (forgive me I am n00b and learning). *I can see that the OEM sensor is 0-5v but, caveat: the actual boost calculation is performed according to a map in the DDE. *Thus, a will a 0-5v boost gage read correctly? *approximately correctly? Finally, how is your 5v tap actually accomplished? I see where, but what is it actually connected to? Also to be clear, on this vehicle, the vacuum system does not help us get a boost reading, correct? Last edited by taibanl; 11-02-2013 at 04:58 PM.. |

It's my understanding that the DDE "adapts" to a whole bunch of different sensors. I'm not sure of the "absolute" accuracy on the voltage vs actual pressure. But you should definitely be able to tell if the voltage is different at lower rpm's vs higher rpm's. Or, you could just drill and tap the post intercooler charge pipe and put a real boost gauge on it and not have to worry about voltage to boost calculations. |

Glad to help.
The Bavarian Technic cable I'm using was bought from Burger along with the JBD several years ago. It was the "Basic" version, and I don't recall CAN being used in the description... I know they say their tool doesn't support our car, but I'm able to access all kinds of useful data with it. |

If you have the BT, you should be able to just log boost vs rpm under full fueling. The boost numbers are "absolute" pressure. You'll need to subtract normal atmospheric pressure (~14.7psi at sea level, or ~1000 mbar) from the BT numbers to see what the turbo's are adding.
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...4&postcount=20 If you also log rpm info you can take the data and create a boost vs rpm plot and see the info you are interested in. |
