HELP!!!! Strange Brake light and Car on Lift Icon

I have 10,500 miles and I am getting a light that says "Brake" in red... also there is an icon on the computer display that shows a car on a lift.... what gives.... do my brakes need to be looked at.....

Has anyone experienced this? or can anyone help me with a reason? I obviously know that I need to take it in....

Either the front or rear brake pads are worn out. Seems kind of premature to be worn out already but it could be an issue with the service indicator system.

Happened to me 2 weeks ago, except I only have 4k on the car. Dealer wanted it for a few days to check it out. Did a search here and found out how to reset the brake indicator, so I did it myself and the light hasn't come back yet.

and a quick how-to:
1. turn on car
2. press and hold odometer reset until yellow icon shows up with your service indicator. (you may have to use scroll wheel to get to your specific sensor)
3. hold BC button to reset.
4. turn car off

Yes it happened to me @ 6000 miles my nav screen popped up with pads worn out and the lift thingy etc. I took it to the dealer and they said one of my pad sensors was bent/ moved and had scarred the pads. They kept it for 2 hours and replaced the pads on the bad caliper/sensor, washed it and all done. They also up loaded new software.

Frequent issue, same happened to me @ 6000 miles. They just reset it and that was it. Kind of a PITA to have to take your car in for it though.

Happened to me at 1200miles. Faulty sensor, dealer replaced it.

This has happened to me now at 2200 miles. However if some people are getting their car to the dealer and they are replacing faulty sensors, isnt just clearing fault covering up a problem that still exists?

I dont want to have to clear my faults every 4k when its actually a sensor that can be replaced in one shot at the dealer. Doesnt make sense to me when people say DONT go to the dealer.

I had my brake pad indicator come on about 100 miles ago. I'm at about 4,900 miles now. I assumed it must be an error. Looks like this thread has confirmed that. I'll try the reset procedure myself to avoid a trip to the dealer.

I just tried the reset 4 times and it didn't work. Got an appointment for Saturday afternoon to clear this up. Gunna end up missing 2 hours of the US Open.

Oh well.

Yeah, I tried three times to no avail. This is annoying. Saturday service? I dont know if my dealer has that. On the phone now.
