Weird crack/score on VANOS solenoid. Pictures inside.

I got a code a couple weeks ago for my inlet VANOS solenoid. Cleared and it didn't come back but I decided to pull the solenoids anyway and clean them out. Well, the inlet one appears to have some weird surface crack/scoring on it! Weird as hell. Anyone seen this before?
