Axle stands and jacking points

Where is the best place to put a trolley jack and axle stands on a E91 lci?
When I did my angel eyes I put the jack on what looks like a jacking point just behind the front wheel but I couldn't see anywhere suitable for an axle stand as the bottom of the car just seems to have plastic covers over everything.
I relied on the jack but wasn't comfortable doing so. When I change my headlight bulbs for LED's I'd really like to have it up on axle stands as it may be jacked up for a while with me in under the wheel arch.
If anyone has any pics of suitable points that would be great.

After having a quick browse online would I be right in saying I have to jack the rear of the car (via the rear jacking point), high enough so that I can then place an axle stand under the front jacking point?

You'd never jack the car up high enough from the rear to get any under the front.

There's a front jacking point also. Literally googling E90 front jack point found this thread with a diagram in - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=650432

drive the car up onto a couple of planks of wood to get the front up a bit. then slide your jack underneath the front of the car in the centre of the engine bay underneath the sump there is a brace with a rectangular part on it that is where you can jack it up evenly to drop ot on stands on the jacking points behind each front wheel

You should be careful jacking up by the diff, there is a bracing point next to it to jack up the rear.

I recently had to get under the front high enough to take off the front under tray off to replace the red intercooler pipe.
I also was a little perplexed as to how to jack it up to get axle stands under the front. I looked on youtube and watched a few videos. The best way for me was to jack up the rear using point 2. The car is strong enough that the whole side will jack up. Then put axle stand on the front point 2 one side at a time. This raised the front just about high enough.
My issue with jacking points 1,3 & 4 is that you need a really long and wide/stable jack like a professional one - which I don't have, else you cant reach the jack points or it doesn't feel stable.
Hope that helps.

Yeah I've watched a number of YouTube videos since I started this thread, and jacking the rear up high enough to get an axle stand under the front seems to be the way to go.

One of these really helps when using the side jacking points by the way...

Jacking point 1 is good for doing jobs like an oil change, that's with a bog standard Halfords trolley jack.(axle stands under the sill jacking points)

Not had to jack up the rear from the middle yet, noticed that my E91 MSport has some extra cross bracing underneath that looks like it would get in the way of jacking from the diff (Point 3) I've not heard of jacking point 4 before though, so will have a look at that.

ive just been using a syphon pump for oil changes, wat a dodlle, just got to make sure you get the dipstick area quite low,ie on a slope, which i have (my drive)only cost £15 from the bay of thieves,,gets all the oil out no problem, can use it for all sorts, getting excess water out of things/syphoning petrol.i use it to syphon petrol out my lawnmower for over the winter.stop petrol going bad and harming the diaphragm..

Jacking point 4 is where the extra brace bolts to behind the diff.

Another vote for Jacking up at the rear point and then putting the axel stand on the front. It's what I did, had no issues, just the usual putting the wheel under the sill as an insurance policy!
