Not using indicators - A new fashion?
Anyone noticed this? Twice in two days, a 20 something female turning right on a roundabout never indicated. Or at any junction for about half a mile. This appears to be a growing trend with younger drivers. Too much trouble? Hard work? Too busy filing her nails? They wernt even on their mobile at the time, so its not that.........

Recently noticed a lot of people not indicating left at roundabouts, annoying.

Why don't they just use the cars stereo? I think that's a little dangerous driving around with ear pieces in.

I am of an age where I was taught to indicate with every change of direction. Overtaking parked cars etc. If this is the way driving is going, it will slow progress, assuming that the vehicle you see IS coming your way! Whats are i pod earphones by the way? The missuses Fiat Panda has a better sound system than that of the standard media package E90 |

I have a feeling you guys would hate to drive in the US. Plenty of dim witted idiots that don't signal. Its become commonplace to not care to signal here unless a cop is around.
They don't keep out of the passing lanes either. |

I have frequently seen few elderly changing lanes on A roads without signals. Seriously, they should be offroad.

When driving a truck, I'm always using indicators, even when passing a cyclist or cars parked on the road edge.
But in my car I take the attitude of only indicating if it would benefit others, meaning indicating at junctions, r/a's etc |

My gripe with indicating is that people tend to indicate at the same time as they carry out their manoeuvre.
Example - person wants to change lane on the motorway. Instead of indicating before they actually change lanes, they do both simultaneously. What's the point of that? The idea is that the light tells other road users of what they intend to do - it's not designed to be a confirmation of what they are already doing! I don't need confirmation - seeing a one ton lump of metal moving across the carriage way is plenty enough evidence for me. But, I do need warning - that's what indicators are for!

i was sat at a quiet roundabout waiting for a car approaching from the right, no indicators so assuming he would pass my path and have the right of way. something seemed strange when he started slowing down as he got closer. the guy proceeded to turn left, and i just sat and started in disbelief as he did so. he saw me staring at him as his did his maneuver and the used his hand to point to the left direction. that left me completely speechless!
indicators on cars are a completely redundant thing of the past, lol! |
