I hate the factory shifter. Looks dated. Even when it was new. This is the same as the current shifters, which was only offered in the 335is.

Your car looks great and surprisingly the quads look really nice on the side instead of in the middle of the M3 rear bumper. IMO the only thing that I'd suggest is to remove the LED bars from the bumper and also change the shifter to an OEM Performance shifter.
Thanks for sharing!

Car looks great! It's never done though!! The shifter is the only thing I would change, the only retro'd one I saw that doesn't look odd is the dct m3 or 5 I think???

Quad exhaust.
Thank you for liking my exhaust. I used an M3 replica bumper, which has the factory locations for the 335 tailpipes. Then I cut out larger holes to accommodate the quad pipes.
My car has a factory exhaust. So I simply cut off the tailpipes and added the quad pipes over those. Therefore, "pipes are in the same location. Cutting the bumper was simple. I used a cordless jigsaw to make the openings. Then I filed and sanded the edge to finish it. Then some factory spray paint, a little sanding and polishing, and voilà. It it looks factory! And believe it or not, the sound really changed from the addition of the quad pipes. Because it is after the muffler stage, I didn't expect it to change it all. But it got much more aggressive. I am very happy with it. |

Your shifter looks too tall, to me. It reminds me of a beer tap.

Shifter
Sorry for being so sensitive about this. But look at this factory shifter. I think it came straight out of 1989. Even car and driver in their review of the E90 said the shifter was its biggest aesthetic flaw, looking old and dated. Am I alone on this?

Shifter
Perhaps it's the angle of the photo. But I actually measured it. It's no taller than the factory shifter.
But LOL on the beer tap comment. I am not disagreeing with you. So now that's all I will think about when I look at it. I guess there could be worse things to think about than beer taps. ?? |

Maybe it's the shape that makes it seem weirdly tall? I dunno. I don't like the stock one either, I plan to swap with the performance shifter at some point.
