Which Wheels for my Winter Set

Which set do you think looks best on a Space Grey e92

EDIT: Per some comments below, I have decided to switch my options. Based on looks and how you think the finish will hold up to Chicago Salt

18" Breyton Race GTS Matte Grey

Or

18" CSL Replicas

Why do you want to spend over 2k for winter?

cause they will be on my car for about 40% of the year. Think of it this way, i will burn through my summer tires in what 30k miles. Winter tires in the same amount of time. So the tire cost is motto. Leaving only the rims. 1.2-1.8k totaly worth it instead of dropping some ugho winter rims.

Now Pick One Fucker!!!

I would suggest 18 inch CSLs. There arent too many snow tire choices in 19s

19" in the winter? Good luck getting around cause you're gonna need it. Lemme guess, you're going staggered too?

Actually no on the staggered. Read my post.

Why again will 19" not work in winter?

I live in the chicago burbs and drive on either 4-6 lane side streets or highways. There is snow on the ground for an extended period of time (more then a couple hours) on rare occasions. That and my job allows me to work from home whenever I want, so I can avoid really bad days. I also have access to drive two other cars.

So again, why do I need luck getting around on 19"s in the winter?

Just my .02. Because you will bend the crap out of them. Save a lot of money on rims and tires and buy 16 inch for winter. The advantages of 16" rims are that you have more sidewall to absorb impacts. I rum 18' for the summer and 16" style 156 in the winter and believe me snow is not your enemy it is the slush and ice that gets you stuck. You can pickup a set of OEM 16" rims for $500-600 and another $500 for good winter tires and you are set.

^ I don't think 16" will fit the 335i.

But anyway, I'd go for 18" as well, just for tire selection.

I would do 18's. You'll have more rubber to absorb pothole impacts which is much more of an issue in winter. You'll also get a better ride.

I wouldn't do CK's or CSL's because of how the spokes meet the rims. their design create crevices where dirt and grime build up. A full lip will let the water and dirt flow out and distribute evenly and are easier to clean.

I also don't think the finish of certain brands of CSL style wheels are up to the harshness of the winter environment and they will look like crap real quick.

I went with 18" Beyern Mesh.

I would get the M3 replicas, no reason to get a set of BBS for winter IMO.

For winter you need most sidewall height possible. Potholes are less visible. 17" is just fine.

I have 18" for summer and 17" for winter.

I'd do the Breytons.

+1.

If you go with the 19" just stay out of the City of Chicago and especially Lake Shore Drive otherwise carry a spare and a jack. Those potholes during the winter are more like bomb craters.

If you insist on going with the 19" I would pick the CSL's but you might want to read the thread about CSL finish before deciding http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111309 and the thread about 19" winter tires http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174560

I also agree. We carry the German made 17X8 Rial Salerno wheel that would work great in snow with a 225/45R17 tire size. These wheels accept BMW center caps as well that we offer for $6 each. This would seem to be an option worth considering for your area.

Already have a 17in winter set and hate how small the wheel looks. Thanks though.
