Keeping the car on a charger during coding?

They mention the dealers use a power supply what about using a charger set on the low charging rate during coding ?
Would this be good I am sure quite a few have multichargers or other battery maintenance devices .
Is this necessary at all?
Do battery chargers provide a stable enough voltage?
Or charge the battery fully before the coding session?

I believe the dealers do this during programming and software updates, not for coding.

sometimes programming/updates can take over 24 hours
