I'm probably one of the least mechanically talented people you will meet and installed mine myself. Have had it for a few months with zero issues.

Cool. That is a relief actually. Wonder what the others' issues are? Do they just mess around with theirs? Are you running JB4 with no supporting mods, or DPs and CP?

I've got the BMS intake, ets chargepipe, and AR catless DP. I run map 2 daily.

The JB4 install is very easy. Just make sure you unhook the negative battery terminal and push connectors all the way in. I have done installations on 5 cars and have it down to about 15 minutes. Once in the car, the tune is essentially set it and forget it (map 1 + can options) ... unless you want to start messing around with meth and different octanes, then logging and emailing terry answers any questions within 10 minutes usually.

JB4 stage 2, ER charge pipe, BMS intake, PE, 94 octane, on map 2 most of the time. Runs perfect and goes like a raped ape. Install was seriously a no brainer, other than closing my trunk like a moron after I disconnected the battery.

Percentage wise, I'd say the number of problems is very small. Unfortunately, we normally only hear about the problems though, so it seems like a bigger deal than it really is. My 2 cents.

This is an excellent point ^^
Maybe I'll try it out without DPs though, as I really don't feel like having my O2 sensor blow and me not knowing it, along with swapping to stock come inspection time. Is the difference on map2 without DPs that much worse? I know a CP is manditory due to higher boost.

I installed my about 1/2 in the dark. No problem so far knock on wood. Very straight forward. I haven't mess around with anything but changing map between 1-2. I bought JB4 cause COBB not available but will switch over later if it ever happen
My current mod is just JB4 map 1 with K&N drop in and CP, DP sitting in the garage waiting for install. You can feel the kick of map 1 but I will run map 2 soon. Also u can run map 2 without DP but need 100 octane. But I am not sure how much power different without DP though but only 1.5 psi I doubt big different. But DP will give you a bigger gain

I'm still leery of this JB4, what with all these quirks on the N55 forum. I wanted to jump on it, but then I see bla bla code this, and half engine power that....wtf?
I had no such issues with my AA tune or BMS powerbox. Granted it was on my 328, and maybe there are just more "moving parts" in the N54/N55 to fuck things up, but still...
Maybe in the N55 case we are simply still learning, and one day they'll be a piggyback that is set it and forget it- worry free.
I can't take the chance of something going haywire then groveling to the dealer or trying to ping my Indy shop in a pinch to straighten things out again..
I for one don't want any tunes that involve me researching and resetting codes with an OBC tool, just install it and drive.
I know Terry puts out top notch stuff, as I have used several of his products in the past with ZERO issues...so it baffles me.
Curious what the deal is here with these problem threads guys...
What are you talking about? The last two threads I saw asking for help with "JB4" problems turned out to be a loose procede fuel connector and a bad fuel pump from the factory...

The mere thought of anything remotely close to what this guy went through just blows my mind.
If the majority of folks are running fine than so be it- I'll talk to AK tomorrow about it.

Installation error, mostly.

I've had mine for over a year. Not a single issue. Never thrown a code.

OK I thought as much, as far as what Oyster said, probably just because you hear of 3 or 4 issues on the forum, there are thousands running fine. Guess I just jumped the gun. I am certain with AK Motorwerk installing it there will be no issues- I have 110% confidence in my boys Alex and Kevin

DPs as well? Or just JB4 with CP? I really would like an HP comparison of DP vs no DP.

I would definitely go with the DP in addition to the JB4 if I were you. Plus, being in the east coast you have the luxury of running 93 octane which should allow you to run map 2 with a DP. There is quite a noticeable difference between maps 1 & 2. For us here in Cali who only have access to 91 octane, we have to use octane booster in order to be able to run map 2.

Did you even read that thread? His problem has NOTHING to do with a JB4... He should change the subject.

That is my post... jB4 has been solid and the issue I had was due to the high pressure fuel sensor which is now resolved! Jb4 is pretty stable even with map7 running 17 psi and 103 octane. Power delivery is smooth but it could be more powerful.

Thank you for the clarification. Wasn't sure what was causing the issue until I read through the whole thread Sam- the headline caught my attention, and stupid me for not reading it through to see the issue
