Last time I was at Fairfax; when I was home for Thanksgiving break. I went to Fairfax with my dad to check out the X5 for him and the 335 for me, we usually goto Sterling because that's where we got the Mini, and that's where FoWash is too. But we were in the area so we decided to stop by. We walked around inside and the outside lot for a good 25 minutes until someone came up to us and ask us if we needed any assistance... I was pissed off, but then a nice salesman let my dad take out a X5 and me a 335: Which might I add was AWESOME!. But I know that the people at Sterling treat customers much better and I'd like to go up and see how Passport is because I've heard many good things about them.

I'm a big fan of Sterling though.

Passport is the best bmw dealer in DC Metro area. Speak to Dave or Joern.

You wont regret it.

Don't forget Peter at Passport! After I bought my 335 I worked with Peter to get a good deal on a 530xi for one of my bosses. My boss ended up not liking the 530 and returned it for a 750 two days later. Peter actually drove the 750 to Tysons where our office is and did the exchange here. Great service!!!

Some great CAs at Passport. Special mention for Peter Brizan and Yves Badji. For ED, Joern Esser is the guy to call, his reputation precedes him. Many happy passporters here...

I have now ordered my second car through BMW of Sterling. Nothing but a great experience. They price matched the great deal that Passport offered me on the E90 for the E92 ($500 over invoice).

That and the service department, especially Jim Eddy (my SA), is absolutely fantastic. It also helps that the dealership is 3 miles from my house...

I haven't experienced the service department yet, of course, but my dealings with Amber were fantastic and straightforward. No hassles. No BS.

I can't speak for other dealerships in the area. I'm sure they're all fair to good. Just thought I'd give my two cents since Fairfax has taken some heat.
I have since found out from a couple of other members that I was wrong about $500 over invoice being available for every car. I apparently just got a really good deal. Sorry if my mistake caused anyone any trouble.

Glad to see you got you a new car.

Of course you can save on TV's. I grabbed a 47 LCD monitor 1080p for 1200 the other day.

I've done quite a bit of bargaining at AudioBuys in Manassas. Helps if you're buying a lot from them, and they even tossed in a 5yr warranty on my RPTV for less than the retail of the 2yr.

Warranty are such money making machines, I get my TVs from Costco and able to return it anytime so long as I have the receipt... thats my warranty

You're able to return it 5 years later (that's how old my set is now)? I'd call BS on that.

I don't buy the warranty on *anything* (it's pure profit, I agree) but for a CRT-based RPTV, it's worthwhile considering it, especially when they give it to you at a huge discount. Getting a 65" TV repaired out of warranty isn't fun.

Here's my experience so far...

Went to BMW Fairfax TWICE in October trying to order a 335i cpe. Neither sales rep/manager would order, and I was told I should buy a 328i off the lot b/c 335i's are "going to be hard to come by."

I got that run-around twice...they really stink at customer service and I will never go there again.

BMW of Sterling was much nicer (although not the kind of service I would expect). Though they ordered the car for Week 49 build. I have had a few troubles gettting my CA to call me back, but I guess that's just him.

I must agree! today it verifies to make it as a fact!
Fairfax BMW just blows hot air when it comes to Customer Service, they got me scheduled for a sw update about 3 weeks in advance just just to tell me today that my car is up to date and when wont do anything to it.

What a waste of time! this goes for their very impersonal Parts Dept.

two thumbs down

I dont know what Dean(edspilot) sees from them

Sterling or Fairfax ?

Al:

Here is what I said in my post.

Price: Good (I bought there in late June, cash deal)

Service: Good (had one flat, drove straight there and fixed with in 2 hours at the end of the day)

Service: Good (Had Lojack & Clear Bra installed)

Customer Service: Disappointed with the fact that the loaner car I was given overnight for the 2 installs was a Ford Focus not a BMW.

Would I buy again: Maybe - Leaning towards not

Since then I had Fraifax do my oil change (out of plan, 9100 miles) my pay and they scratched the top of my left fender with small paint chip removed. Maybe from a belt buckle when leaning over. Anyway, I have sent e-mails to different people in management and called,,, no response. I've been out of the country since then and have not been able to go in. I'll probably have to eat it and fix it as I did not catch it until I got home and the next morning headed out of country.

Therefore, I'll not be doing anymore business with them. Too bad for them because I'm buying my girl-friend an X3 first week of Feb. Al she does not know yet so do not tell her.

Also Al,, did you see I'm going to the 2 day driving school at the end of the month.

Are any metro DC or Baltimore dealers offering anything off MSRP on a 335i coupe order?

wow! thk for the clarification Dean, and hope all goes well with your scratch fender, maybe a polishing wax can do the job. Shim fixed my tarnish finish on my honda during his last zaino job, maybe he can fix that too.

... for the X3, Are you leaning toward Passport then?
Mark from the office got his thru Yves and he was pleasantly pleased with the home delivery service he got ... I guess they'll do anything for a sale
