I think the auto is so much more efficient, and so you do get the most out of
the car.

Manual is more fuel efficient, more controllable, less prone to failures and problems.

I regret buying an automatic 335i every single day, this is why I'm looking forward for a manual conversion very soon (Already talked to my mechanic about this). And best part is, I get a manual gearbox +700$

With that said, I recently had a loaner with the same engine but an auto. The car did seem to be quicker off the line and almost a bit more peppy. Although in no way what so ever was it as fun to drive as my manual. In my opinion I just feel more connected to the whole driving experience with a manual.

After I got my car back I realized why it felt peppier. It was simply that the auto would rev the car much higher than I normally do while driving. Once I revved my manual the same way, it definitely felt peppier.

skip the rewire, there are a pair of m3 paddles on sale brand new in the "for sale" section for $159 shipped. It's worth it

I put DCT paddles in my 335i with sport package and never looked back.
Don't miss the MT one single bit.
Up until now I drove some sort of MT for the last 30+ years.

To me it has more to do with telling the car what to do and feeling like you doing it. Never thought I would have missed a manual sports car but I understand why some people just refuse to buy one or why b,w had to make a manual m5 just for the American market.

I had a 450rwhp corvette that was a 6spd manual and since getting this 335i I love the fact that I can jump in while being tired and not think about shifting and basically just be as lazy as I want but when I want to have fun I can have fun

I haven't driven a stick since my 2001 Mazda MP3. So IMO auto was best option for me. I don't miss being stuck in traffic with my stick tranny and almost feel bad for ones who have a manual trans in traffic...

So what everyone is saying then the only time the steptronic trumps manual is when your are in traffic. So what if you never faced traffic would steptronic still be your preferred option? That's what my original post was about. Forget traffic. Do you miss rowing thru and shifting at red line using two feet and your two arms to get it all done!

I regret buying a 6AT, I wish I would of waited a bit longer for a 6MT but i've been having buyers remorse after one month of owning my car. I heard that putting paddle shifters would change the car but when I did I only had fun for a couple of months then got tired again.

So now i'm just not modding at all and waiting for the right car in 6MT to pop up so I can go trade my car in for it.

And if Im buying used which I do a lot usually the manuals are owned by people who wanted to beat on the car where if you get an auto theres a lesser chance the car was beat on. Not always true but mostly true

I miss driving a manual transmission. It's so much fun and really connects you with the car and the road.
That being said the 6AT in the 335 is pretty sweet, but it does take away from the joy of driving.

In this context, yes, I miss having a manual, although I think BMW needs to hang out with Honda engineers with respect to manual transmissions. My Si manual felt 10x better than the BMW's.

Couldn't take the rough abrupt shifts in sport. Paddles are fun on the track but that's it....for me.

I don't buy that at all. It's just as easy to say that people who purchase cars with manual transmissions tend be enthusiasts who are more conscientious about driving and maintenance.
