Hey all. I'm a relative n00b to modding (but have learned a ton by reading everything I can on here), so I wanted to ask on here what you guys think about this. I've got an e90 07 335xi that is running wheels that are 8.5 in wide square. I've already measured and I'm pretty sure I don't have any room for spacers on the front, and it looks like I can fit 10 mm on the rear (but 12 looks close too).

Having said that, I'm looking for someone who would know for sure how wide I could really go. I don't want to order the 10 mm ones and realize once I put them on that I could have fit 12 or 15.

I did already search , and read the sticky about measuring. I'm just looking for someone who may have already put spacers on with a similar wheel size to help me out. Or anyone who could calculate for sure. I'm not wanting to roll the fender and I'm not lowered right now, but will probably lower a bit at some point in the future with coilovers.

People's setups will all vary, so you're going to see varied results based on everyone else's setup. A 245/40/18 is not as common with those wheel specs as say a 235/40/18 would be too, so again, your exact setup will differ.

Since you've measured, go with what you feel like would be the best fit. If you decide to purchase spacers, make sure that the chamfer on your wheels will be compatible with the spacer. You're right around the size where it may not work with them.

At the end of the day, you probably won't notice the difference between 10mm and 12mm spacers, once they're on the car. It's fairly negligible. Since you have an idea of what sizes will work, research which spacer companies would be most compatible with your wheels and see what sizes they have to offer.

ET is quite important we really need to know that

Im running 8.5j oem rears with 255 wide tyres and running 15mm rear spacers comfortably, id imagine i could fit an 18mm rear spacer but may be chancing it

After a quick search it appears that your wheels are ET40? If so, you should be able to run a 15mm spacer out back no problem. That would put your wheel at 8.5 ET25. I run the same exact width/offset/tire size in the rear and it has NEVER rubbed. When I went to ET20 it rubbed, so I would go 15mm MAX in the rear on your car.

As for the front, I don't know; I've never tried adding spacers to the front. Again, if your wheels really are ET40 you can go with a 5mm up front at the very least. I would probably just try a 10mm at first though simply for the sake of being hubcentric without worrying about adding a hub extender, etc.

Come to think of it, how are the top of your tires not hitting the lower spring perch up front on your car? I barely have any room whatsoever up front; I couldn't imagine being 5mm closer to the strut on top of that...

Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate you taking the time to reply, and do some research for me as well! I also did more research and measuring, and ended up getting 18 mm for the back. On the front, I have a little rubbing on the right tire when wheel is turned all the way to left, but that happens so infrequently (basically just backing out of garage) it's not worth addressing, and isn't hurting my tire or the car. When I do get new tires though, I will see if I can do something to avoid that. I was also thinking a 2-5 mm spacer up front might help that issue but the tire is already so close to flush, I'm not sure it would really matter.

I'll add some before and after photos when the spacers arrive. As to "how does the tire not hit the lower spring perch up front", I dunno, it just doesn't, even when going over a speed hump. :P

Also, another n00b question: what is ET?

ET = offset. It's short for einpresstiefe, which is the German word for offset essentially.
