BMS power box

Hi Guy,
I just wanted your opinion on this device. I have been reading all over the net , and wanted to know how good is the product.

Some questions:

Can it cause any problems to car?

Has any encountered problems with the product in their car ?

Is it better than driving in DS mode ?

Thank you for you comments.::thu msup:

Go for it. It won't cause any problems. There is a noticeable improvement in acceleration under full throttle. But I have mine in combination with an intake and a full exhaust. Not sure if it's as noticeable on a stock vehicle.

Its a great tune that makes the car much more responsive by eliciting the throttle lag and gives you a nice small boost in power. It comes with a 14-day money back guarantee so no harm in trying if you are on the fence

Thx . The only reason why im asking is because i have heard of members having check engine lights come on , and fuel injectors being replaced. more often I just do not want to go through the headache of going back and forth to the dealer. I had that experience with a 335 and it was not fun . The 328 is a solid car and I just dont want to run into problems later down the road.

If you've heard of members having that happen, it happened. Asking in a new thread and not hearing problems from the few who respond is equivalent to an ostrich sticking its head in the ground

just looking out for you

Hi Mike, I got mine installed today, the result was really really good, for 100% remap, i noticed a huge increase, the car acts more effective. but would it harmful to always set the map to 100%? thank you.

No, I ran it on map 3 for almost 2 years.. Removed the PBX after I got a real tune. For the price, it did the job; I have no complaints.

The only problem I have with this box is it is not a plug and play system. You have to remove a few wires from your ECU and then insert some from the PBX. I wish the company would make it so you could just plug this unit into the harness and then have a digital readout on what map you are running. Never put one in due to this reason. Hopefully I can join a SJ BMW club and find someone that will remap the ECU for me soon.

That's what up . I have a question . I just brought my car to this guy that only deals with bmws and I was asking him if he could install the power box , and he ended up tell me that he could do something Better than the power box . That' he would send my Ecu to Germany to have it flashed and it would increase the hp by 10 and the tourque by 20 and it would never come off the car .

Has anyone ever heard of this bf . ? He said it would not be detectable . And not void my warrenty

Don't know who in Germany the guy speaks of, but there are tuners here in the US that do something similar. Check out the Active Autowerke threads under the this forum section. I have the Active Autowerke stage 2 tune and like it.

I don't know technicals with respect to detection but would think if you had an engine problem and it were detected, a dealer might try and push back on a warranty claim. I'm out of warranty so I didn't really weigh the risk heavily.

I have had both, and gone with an AA tune as well, now I need to go back to get it updated to stage 2 and get a controller

I've had one installed for 2 yrs with no problems. Definitely inproves the throttle response - acts as it should have from the factory now. Seems to pull harder from 4k & up...

Install is not bad as long as you follow the instructions and work on (1) wire at a time. Anyone that tells tales of 'Check Engine' lights obviously did something wrong during the wiring - if they can't follow simple instructions - then they shouldn't be working on their own car

As far as detection goes, if you're worried, you can reset the unit to OFF before you take it in to the dealer easily - they will not be able to detect it unless they actually tear the car apart, open up the ECU and see it installed.

I got it mainly for the throttle improvement, but the small boost in hp is nice add.

> Yes, you can get a Sprint Booster, which is an easier install, but it costs same as powerbox and only allows throttle remapping with no xtra performance tuning...

> Yes, one of the available flash tunes will yield more power and cure the throttle problem - but they also cost more $$, & the killer (for me at least) is that you have to run 93 octane gas with the flash tunes. This is my DD, and 93 is highest octane available in my area (as well as crazy expensive). I don't feel like paying hi prices for gas in a car that I drive back & forth to work in. The higher increase in hp afforded by a tune is not worth the every day cost of driving for a DD in my case.

MY TransAm & Vette are both custom dyno tuned & require 93, but they are cars I only drive on nice weekends to shows and get very little mileage use during the year. Plus, in those cars, the RWHP/RWTQ is more than 2X what is capable in my 328 (T/A has 427 Lingenfelter & Vette has old school 427 with aftermarket FI) - so higher gas price is worth it
