It's getting harder and harder to find a bar or restaurant that even knows what an old fashioned is. To get a perfect one, try Woodford Reserve, it's the current king of Ky. bourbons, and mix a drop or two of maraschino cherry juice with the sugar and bitters.

Cheers!

My avatar takes offense to you calling Woodford king of bourbon. Pappy van winkle is not assumed

People either swear by it, or despise it.

I'm a Scotch guy personally, Lagavulin 12Y / 16Y these days (because I like its smoky flavor). Glenrothe is also really smooth. Initially I didn't care for Macallan but I'm coming around.

In terms of beer, we have a few great breweries out here; I'm really liking Greenport Harbor's Citrus IPA and Black Duck Porter as standout examples. I also like several Lagunitas beers (IPA, Little Sumpin' Sumpin' and, when possible, Sucks). I tried a beer in Michigan called Huma Lupa Licious IPA; after the first sip, I sat down and drank that crap like it was my job - I can't get it here and this still stands out as a particularly good beer. Shipyard Monkey Fist IPA is solid as well.

Lol, it is a preference, just more people today who would say Woodford Reserve.

I grew up in Frankfort, Ky., played pop warner football at 9am with a sour mash mist in the air next to the Old Grandad distillery, eventually worked right across the street from Buffalo Trace (yours) and lived about 10 minutes from the Wild Turkey distillery.

Lots and lots of good Ky. bourbon, and other than race horses about all the state has to offer. But try the Woodford Reserve, it really is that good.

Haha I have the Woodford too. I'll gladly trade 4 bottles of Woodford for a bottle of Pappy anytime. Let me know if you find any

The Old Grand dad distillery...is that the old National Distillers? I still have a few bottles from the 70s and 80s of Old Grand Dad and Old Taylor. They sure don't make them like the good old days!

I think I need to drink some water too. Need to lose some weight and alcohol isn't helping

Four 12oz 120 minutes?? At 18% I have to disagree that you'd have a good night.

My guess is you'd wake up the next morning behind bars or in the middle of the front lawn!

It's a damn good beer though

Anyone enjoy sour beers? I wasn't a fan at first but love the stuff Russian River Brewery is doing. Their Pliny the Younger is still my favorite US Beer.

Man, I've been looking for Russian River's beers forever. Can't get them here in FL or most of the east coast! Do you know of any way to get them shipped?
