"Lost" navigation

Over the past two days I have noticed problems with the car's navigation - it is able to track the exact location of the car but it is unable to determine the direction in which you are going. ie. when driving down a straight road the system thinks I am going backwards, taking U-turns etc.... This makes the navigation impossible to use.

Any suggestions how to fix this problem?

Never heard of this problem. What nav system do you have? Does it do it all the time?

I hate the BMW navigation system, its sucks hard! It doesn't show off ramps clearly, and it isn't clear or intuitive to the driver.

I got a hacked version of the BMW navigation for my previous car and that was a tonne loads better, i think it was based on iGo8 maps.

It's Business Navigation. Pretty much gives me the wrong information most of the time, it now thinks I am travelling on a nearby parallel road when driving on the main road...

Hard to say. I would start with reading faults on the car.
And I recall there is a way to read the GPS signal off the headunit. But you might need to find and shop to do these and get it diagnose.
