Did my first oil change.

So owning the CPO 328i for the past 6 months, the service due light finally came on last week. Figured I could call the dealership and get a quote for an interim oil change and was quoted 253$ . Then I called an independent shop close to my apartment and was quoted 95-105$. Made an appointment with the indy shop, showed up, and the guy didn't even have me down. Decided that the indy shop was kinda sketchy, I don't believe they would use BMW approved oil. I decided to just do it on my own rather than trusting somebody else.

Went to the dealership, paid 90$ and some change for 7 qts of oil and oil filter. Used couple of DIY guides, and 45 minutes later I was done. Everything was fairly simple, as easy as any other car.

Next time I will save my pennies and buy the cheaper kit off Tischer.

Did mine a couple weeks ago too. Took around 30 minutes and didn't get robbed by the dealership.

Man, that's just outrageous. My indy BMW shop charges $95 for oil and filter change. And that's in one of the highest cost areas in the country. Even the stealers here only charge about $125!

Good to hear. DIY is very satisfying. Now you are on your way to do other easy DIYs ie: changing air filter, micron filter, etc....

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

I just got mine changed at the dealership, and paid $103 including tax. Not too bad.

If it costs that much at the dealership I would definitely go that route
