You clever little iPhone...

...managed to update the time even in airplane mode (i.e. no phone or data signal). How did it do that?

Didn't actually want it to update as battling with my little boy to sleep longer so was working off old-time.

It only needs to know your time zone and probably changes the clock automatically.

These days, most gear that has a capability of holding what time zone you are in will change your clock automatically (like Windows operating system). It does not need to connect to any outside source to do this.

It knows that the clocks always change on the last Sunday in October in your time zone. No need for any data/gps, just a calendar.

My central heating programmer does the same...

In my Zed one clock is linked to the RDS radio so changes itself but the other needs changing manually - highly annoying when you can't get them both the change at the same time - OCD!!

I'm using a (works supplied) Blackberry.
It's set to manual time update.
I made sure it was set to 'turn all connections off' last last night.

(Clocks do not go back in Russia, where I am at the moment, any more).

It still put the clock back one hour and I almost missed my f'ing breakfast this morning!
Just before a 10 hour shift!

Useless cellphone programming twats!

Rant over.

I don't remember the last phone I've owned that didn't do this.

I don't

It gets the time off the GPS signal, updates itself when the clocks change and also changes itself when I arrive in France on the Eurotunnel to the local time zone

Tell me about it. Technically ours was up at 6.00 this morning so clock said 5.00 :thumb down Only up side was that he was grubbed by his usual bed time so we didn't have to listen to the usual hour of him screaming and trying to get out of his room.
